A group of us were in Amsterdam and we hired the private dining room and ordered a 6 course tasting menu. Absolutely excellent and beautifully served combining fish with beet and a series of amuse bouche. Great wine list from which we selected a Condrieu, a Chassagne Montrachet and a red Bordeaux. Impeccable service and great decor. Highly recommend.

The a la carte menu is not very large, and the tasting menu seemed to have all on offer. Four of us had the 8 course tasting menu, which ended up only being 7 as the veal wasn't on the menu, (no reduction in the price)...

Our amuse bouche was fresh mackerel and was delicious, served in a yuzu dressing. Bread was warm, butter offered were regular salted and a smoked goats milk butter with for some reason mandarin. Quite unpleasant and the quantities three times more than two people needed.

The rest of the meal followed with each course being described by the server and all tasting delicious. Again more bread arrived, this time an Italian bread, the next course another different bread, now I like bread but the first roll was sufficient. I had read that portion sizes were small and they are, I think however they are trying to fill you up with the bread.....The lamb was perfect and soft, beautiful, cheeses were a delight. We had a bottle of Viognier and a Temperillo, wines were good and not overly priced. The 8 course tasting menu was 110 euros a head and was well worth the money...

I would highly recommend it.

We chose this restaurant because we are foodies and love trying tasting menus with small portions of beautifully prepared dishes. Bord'Eau di not disappoint and the food is first rate. The wine was also excellent but I think the days of wine lists the size of a family bible are long gone! Also the wine is overpriced.

The rating is not excellent because we both felt the restaurant lacked any spark. The chef popped out to present one of the dishes but most of the staff seemed a bit stiff and didn't seem to be enjoying their jobs. It is part of a large and very grand hotel but I think it is trying too hard to be "exclusive". Focus on the customers and lighten up a little.
