Dicker and Thijs promises character - beams etc - and a great location on the canal. But some of the rooms fall far short and none that we saw offered much character. Some look over a dingy gloomy back - so if your booking insist on a higher floor canal view (it's a busy street at night) or don't book. That said the restaurant is good, staff are great and it's a good location to be based in. But I'm not sure it's worth the price.

This is a nice hotel with very comfortable beds. It is in a good location close to transportation. We stayed on a higher floor and had 3 beds and plenty of room.
I would stay here again. Front desk folks were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was
included and was very tasty.

Room Tip: High floor is best due to rail noise outside

This hotel is right in the heart of Amsterdam on one of the main canals. Its is within easy walking distance of many of the main attractions including the Ann Frank House and Van Gogh and Rijks Museums. There are also many restaurants close by if you do not want to eat at the hotel. The staff was very helpful and purchased tickets for us for some of the attractions. Rooms are above average for an older European hotel and appear to have been upgraded recently. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

We very much enjoyed our three days at this hotel. The location is wonderful, for a start. And it helped that we had a lovely room, 104, on the first floor, with huge windows on two sides. We paid quite a lot for it, but it was definitely worthwhile - comfortable, bright, and, despite its busy outlook over two streets, very quiet. Staff were helpful and friendly, if very laid-back about it. Breakfasts (again, quite expensive) were enjoyable, plenty of good-quality food available, and the one time we ate in the small restaurant we found the food (including smoked salmon, dover sole, sausages) also more than adequate. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are large and have wonderful views

Location couldn't be easier and better. The staff were so incredibly nice and helpful -ideas for things to do, day trips, directions, food, etc... We ate dinner one evening at the restaurant and it was fantastic. Our room was tucked in the back and it was very quiet. We would definitely stay there again!
