This hotel is ideal for a business trip or if you just need a place to rest after a good day of shopping. The rooms are beautifull, they're not to design like, but warm en cosy. The beds were verry comfortable with super soft sheets. The location is the best, when you walk out the door you're directly at the most lively paets of Amsterdam

We ended our 12-night trip to Europe (3 Countries, 7 different hotels) at the Dikker & Thijs hotel in Amsterdam and we are so glad we did. The hotel is perfectly located next to many hotels, attractions, trams, and the Central Train Station. As we were a family of three traveling, the size of a "triple room" was fantastic. The sheer abundance of multi-cultural dining options - quite literally outside of our door - was wonderful for our 13 year old daughter. The room was spacious, (room on 4th floor), had a lovely view, and offered both in-room coffee and a mini-bar; both of which were nice. The only slight draw-back is that we faced a very busy street and the late-night partiers could be heard from our room. I believe if you ask for a room facing the canal or the back of the hotel; that the noise would be minimal. The partying stopped around 11PM - as did the bells on the trams. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. The only "ding" I can give them was that our bathroom door didn't shut. At all. And it is something that others would have commented on and the house-cleaning stafff would surely have noticed. However, if you jam a washcloth in the door, it closed just fine - affording my 13-year old girl the privacy her newly-emerging teen angst demanded. Other than that, a perfect hotel.

Room tip: If you don't like noise... don't get a room facing the busy restaurant street. We were in room 402, and there was some late night activity. Other than that - quiet, quiet rooms.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Dikker & Thijs for two nights in August. Hotel staff were hugely friendly and helpful. Front desk is manned 24/7, and there is free wifi.

Our attic room (408) was a brilliantly pleasant surprise - spacious with wooden beams and a canal view. The hotel's location is perfect - very close to lots of bars, restaurants and attractions, although quiet enough to enjoy a good night's sleep! The metro stops right outside of the hotel, although we walked everywhere, (it's about a 25 minute walk to Amsterdam Centraal train station, which is how we travelled to and from Schipol airport). There is also a canal tour which stops right outside the hotel which is a great way to see the sights.

Have already recommended this hotel to family and friends. Great value, perfect location and a quaint and friendly hotel. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay. I stayed there with my twins, mother, brother, and his girlfriend. We had three rooms. All were great. D-T is right across from a bakery, McDonald's (in case you want a cheap breakfast), and a Starbuck's. Also, it's one block from at least 20 restaurants. Museums are 10 minute walk and the tram runs right in front. There is a tourist office across the canal. Would definitely recommend.
