This hotel is perfectly located, well furnished, exceptionally clean but the staff are by far the thing we’ve enjoyed the most about this hotel. We must give a particular mention to Marios (super Mario). He is attentive, personable and gives a service second to none! We have enjoyed very pleasant evenings in the bar area in his company. Keep up the good work Marios!!

Location, service, atmosphere! Such a uniquely designed hotel with interesting room decor and design. The staff were upbeat and helpful. The bar is a cozy place to enjoy a drink and strike up a conversation. The neighborhood is the nicest in the center, and it is convenient to walk to many major attractions from the hotel.
I would stay here again!

We spent three nights at The Toren and we had a wonderful time. The hotel has a unique atmosphere and beautiful interior. It's located in central Amsterdam with walking distance to almost everything. The staff was so friendly and helpful, just great service overall! We will definately book this hotel for our next Amsterdam trip!

When writing a review about a hotel like The Toren, it’s sometimes hard to tell whether what you enjoyed most is actually the fundamentals that make the site perfect for a boutique hotel, rather than the current experience the owners are trying to impart.
Let’s start with the former. The Toren is so obviously situated in an ‘A-list’ Amsterdam location. It’s a 2 minute canal-meander from both the impossibly quaint Jordaan neighbourhood and the bustling heart of Centrum. I walked A LOT, over my four days in the city and you could not get more perfect spot on the Keizersgracht - an address fit for a king!
Then there’s the room. I stayed in a spacious Canal View Superior Deluxe Room with Spa Bath. How often do you get to experience high ceilings and enormous windows that open out onto the canal? A big four-poster bed, super comfy bed completes the experience, which made waking up to dappled light and the chime of church bells just delightful. Again, the fundamentals here are so solid.
And yet, something is missing. The hotel has a theme. Let’s call it glam, or maybe Dutch noir. I’m a fan of the dark interiors, the purple on black, the slightly risqué photographs in the common areas. I wouldn’t have picked the hotel otherwise. BUT, glam isn’t luxe, and I think due to a combination of age (the original design aesthetic now comes off a little dated) and hotel room wear and tear, the glitz is no longer as glitzy. And you need the glitz to go with the glam, right? Particularly at €500 a night.
On the positive side, the staff were personable and helped with suggested sites and restaurant bookings.
Practicalities: the WC in the room is small, like barely close the door behind you small. The bathroom is open to the rest of the room and stepped up on a raised floor. The spa is deep and clean.
Overall, I left after a four night stay thinking there was much to love about Keizersgracht 164, and much to like about The Toren.
