A very rainy day in Amsterdam in the so called summer, after a city tour and canal cruise we were craving for food like crazy, walk down the lane we were looking for moti mahal the indian restaurant and were so sad to find it closed we started searching for any good place to eat and came across royal indian. Quiet and cozy, the chef from Nepal was a sunshine on a rainy day. We ordered chicken wings, chicken tikka masala, & chicken biryani and naans - all tasted good, reasonable portions.

Try it ... If you crave indian food.

Every dish that we had at Royal Tandoori was excellent. We started with vegetable samosas and I also had chicken makhani (butter chicken), and naan, which were all perfectly cooked and seasoned. We were luck to find this place! Delicious!

Maybe I am spoiled by decent Indian cuisine, good fresh ingredients, well spiced, excellent flat breads, even real mango chutney. Royal tandoori is not bad, just not all that good. We began with a vegetable samosa. They were ok, decently spiced and cooked. Entree was a shrimp biryani. Spicing was authentic, decent. Ingredients ok, shrimp coated and fried, not so good. Breads were a big disappointment, more like panini than a traditional Indian flat bread and the garlic nan did not even seem to have been made with fresh garlic. Mango chutney was not very good, a watery soup. Could have been better preparation, especially for 35 euros.

Small place on main road. Excellent food and very fast/friendly service. Chicken masala and lamb curry were ordered along with nan bread. Only 2 couples were there when we arrived and place was packed when we left.Highly recommend to everyone.

Great food, very delicious! A bit expensive, but it worth it! The staff is very friendly and attentious. A place to visit in a future trip to Amsterdam.
