First time brunch @ Gartine was simply very enjoyable. The service is really nice and friendly, not pretencious at all. While the food (and the drinks!) were absolutely delicious. Lovely variety of tea, perfect balance between different ingredients, cozy atmosphere (not posh at all) and it was all organic. Broad selection of tasty scones and (cheese and chocolate) cakes. Did I mention that the (strawberry) jam is home made..... just like everything else! Very homey Dutch hospitality.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The other reviews were correct, Gartine was tough to find! On a narrow street with very little fanfare from the outside, you could walk right by it and miss it. And what a gem you would miss! The atmosphere was warm and spacious, the decor quirky but somewhat antique - it all just felt nice. We got there at 10:10 and were the last table in without a reservation. People were turned away left and right after we got in. I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast with salmon - which was a delight! The bread had a garlic spread on it that was a bit of a surprise at first. The hubs ordered the large breakfast and we thought the French toast was fantastic! The service was friendly and we felt more like we were having breakfast at a friend's house. It was just great!

This teeny tiny place is perfect for breakfast, brunch, tea time!
Found it randomly today: a pearl compared to the other numerous tourists addresses. Enjoy slow food dishes served in old china plates. Homemade desert was amazing (cheesecake espresso, cinnamon, speculoos)
Highly recommended for a relaxing experience.
Service very kind, and prices are - gosh - very reasonnable.
Warning: get some cash, they do not take credit card.

came back from amsterdam yesterday and had an amazing trip with my boyfriend. i had heard about this cafe and was determined to go there although on foot and in the snow, it was pretty hard to find but well worth it! its only a small place but it looks lovely and is sooo warm after being out in -5! i had mint tea which was made from fresh mint leaves and soup with sourdough bread and it was one of the nicest soups ive ever tasted! my boyfriend had smoked salmon salad with parsnips and potatos and it was pretty big, present well and tasted delish! not really cheap but not really dear, just right for what it was! would recommend!

My wife and I went here from the recommendations from Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.
The little pokey cafe/restaurant was quaint and full of atmosphere. The owner/chef/head waitress was so polite and helpful. There was a selection of home made cakes, sandwiches, soups and salads which await you on the menu along with 3 types of high tea. All products are either grown in the back garden or forced very very locally.
We selected the medium high tea which consisted of an open sandwich, a trout cream cheese ball and a gorgeous homemade curried leek puff pastry quiche. Along with this was 4 slices of stunning homemade cakes and a cupcake each. A large selection of unlimited tea for you to choose from and a smile with the service. They even changed the items on the high tea for my wife as she could not eat meat without question and offered her a selection of different choices. A little pricey for 37Euros but worth it.
A wonderful place to visit to rest your legs and chat over some delightful food and teas.
