Nice clean hotel. Very traditional interior, fits very nicely with the history of the hotel.
Quite rooms except for the guests arriving at 4am.
Location is super. All the nice places are within walking distance. Ideal for dropping off your shopping bags and continue.

The Doelen hotel is a great place to stay in Groningen - perfect central location, spacious rooms, very cosy beds and friendly professionall stuff make the stay very comfortable and easy.
One thing that concerned me - I got bitten by something in my bed. Might be bed bugs. Concider checking that.

Room Tip: Rooms with the market view are a bit loud but still very nice.

An in expensive hotel in perfect location.
Can be very noisy. 8ish inch old style TV not worth switching on and room a bit dark but bathroom very nice. Thursday Friday night noise from the club very loud. So make sure you go out too.

Hotel in the middle of Groningen very close to the famous 'drie gezusters' (next door actually). Old building with a lot of character. Rooms were ok and staff very friendly and helpful. Shame we couldn't stay longer.

This hotel is located in a very central position right on one side of the main city square in Groningen - Grote Markt. During our visit in early Sept the weather was still warm enough for the hundreds of cane chairs and tables outside the hotel to be occupied by drinkers and diners from about 11.30am onwards.
The interior of the hotel is decorated in a sumptuous manner with the dining room and lounge displaying high ceilings and gorgeous full walls filled with leather bound books and historic artworks. The Hotel dates back to the 1700's.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and away from what could be a noisy square packed with young revellers especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It was accessible via an elevator.
A real bonus for us was being able to open the windows in our room for fresh air. The wi- fi was free and consistent. The room offered a writing desk with chair, two chairs for relaxing and a pair of comfortable beds. There was plenty of hanging and shelf space in the free standing wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and tiled. The only real negative was that there was no pressure what so ever in the shower and no ledge for the soap or shampoo.
The front desk is manned 24/ 7 and all of the attendants were both friendly and knowledgeable. One of the night managers ,Joeret, was particularly amenable.
The breakfast Buffett is €13.50 and includes both hot and cold options. This hotel offers one of the best value for money laundry deals we have come across - fill a bag for €10.50 !!!! Brilliant! In before 10am and returned same afternoon.
There is a lovely balcony overlooking the square for an afternoon drink or coffee.
We definitely recommend this hotel!
