There are so many great aspects of this hotel. The building itself is wonderful - high ceilings, nice architectural details, balconies, large bathrooms. The staff is great - Stephanie and Martina at the front desk were there to help and give advise, and Franzeska in the breakfast room always had a big smile for us and makes great lattes. The location is perfect - 1 block to the lake; 3 blocks from a tram stop; far enough away from downtown that you don't get the noise, but close enough to be there in 10 minutes.
It is not a chain hotel, it has heart.. . and art. . and coffee. The staff truly seems to care and is there for you.
The downside is that - it is an old building. Sound travels through the floors easily, so please don't pace the floor at 2:00 AM if you can't sleep, the people below need their shut-eye. You can't really fault a hotel for a guest walking around in the middle of the night in their own room. The other quirk are the front steps. They seem to slant both forward and to the side. A bit unexpected the first time you come to them.
If you want a wonderful boutique hotel in a great location, this is for you.More
