Worst place I've ever stayed.

In all my travels I have never encountered a worse booking through booking.com and I have been to every continent. The company advertised a property that we rented and when we arrived the room advertised was not the room we got. It was so bad I spent 250u euro to leave and go to the Holiday Inn which I would strongly recommend staying in instead. I asked for a refund and was denied. I believe in karma. What goes around comes around for this property. I booked this as a present and was so embarrassed when I arrived.
Towels were dirty, bed gave my boyfriend back pain, toilet was tiny, shower was too small so water went everywhere in the bathroom. Building itself was run down and dowdy like it was built years ago and was never renovated. Dont waste your money

First of all the photos of the apartment rooms and other areas on booking.com website are just a fake impression on the customers but in reality the floor is scratchy the tv does not work very bad smell in the kitchen the table was hardly standing on its feet just 2 bottles of 30ml body wash importantly cockroaches in the kitchen kitchen was filthy refrigerator wasn’t working only the freezer compartment was working the windows in the apartment open to the main road and the train lines nonstop noises till late in the night no such thing of customer service despite there was a number to call but useless as nobody will come out to sort any problem out basically it’s all wrong from booking. Com people to the Swiss star apartment management just ripping off customers I have lost my trust in booking.com disappointment the way booking.com people handled the seriousness of the the issues I faced while I was in the apartment as well as after I checked out of the apartment the very next day. My youngest son got sick because of that smell Shame on you people at booking.com.

These apartments fall into the "budget" category for Zurich standards and it definitely feels budget. When we first arrived and checked into the machine in front of the house, the keys that came out did not open the parking, even though we had booked a parking space in advance. We got 3 keys but only found use for one. The keys did however open the front door so we managed to get in and could access the parking through the building. Once inside the parking garage, almost all the parking spots were marked with a name or license plate number, but there was none with our name on it (note that your car will be towed if you are not parked in the right spot). We parked the car in an unlabeled spot and proceded upstairs to find our apartment.

When we opened the door, it was immediately clear that the room was not clean even though we arrived around 15:00. We tried to call the contact number and no one answered, but as we were in the apartment some people entered and quickly explained to our shocked faces that they were there to clean the apartment.They were very nice and helpful however, but were not able to help us for the parking and warned us that we should check because it can be messy. We waited outside while they cleaned the room in 10 minutes and tried the contact number again. The person who answered said we didn't book a parking, but we had paid a rather elevated price and insisted that we needed this parking. He then said he'd send someone to put up a sign with our name. We stayed 2 nights and checked several times throughout our stay and the sign never appeared.

The apartment itself is in a pretty sad state, in desperate need for renovation. The coffee table was completely destroyed, the fan was taped together (we didn't try to see if it worked) and everything was old. However, the location is ideal if you are going to a concert in Hallenstadion, but know that it's not the best neighborhood in Zurich.

To summarise all issues:

Late check-in

Inhabitable state of the apartments. Refer to the pictures shared
Soap, shampoo, dishwashing cubes, material to wash utensils, etc. were not provided. We ended up spending upwards of 50 euros on that. I wasn't aware that I should keep receipts

Extremely noisy at nights

The shower wasn't working - They had to replace it.

Threatening/ rude emails from apartment owners leading us to refuse all services from them including cleaning. I was travelling with kids and pregnant wife and didn't want to pick a fight with super rude apartment owners. I apologised to them and said please don't enter the apartment as long as we are there - this was because we felt threatened.

I paid $50 per room and got 2 rooms for one night. For that price I believe the place is a good deal. Here is my experience:

We arrived at about 10pm and had a bit of difficulty figuring out the electronic check in at the front door. We did manage to figure it out but I would recommend they install a phone that automatically connects to their 24 hour hot line so if you need help and don't have a phone you can get help. In our case we had a USA cell phone and couldn't call the Swiss number.

When we did get inside, one of the rooms we were given had another person already in it. Our code opened the door and we walked in on her. She said this has happened to her a few times. We called the hotline using WiFi we were able to get and they rapidly assigned us a different room.

In both of our rooms there was good, strong WiFi. The rooms were clean. There are no alarm clocks or bedside phones. There are mini-fridges and kitchenettes.

The room on the fourth floor was quiet. The room on the first floor - our family was constantly woken up by people coming in and out of the hotel. Poor night of sleep as a result.

In the morning we got an Uber to the airport and it was a 10 minute trip there. That was helpful.

Those are the pros and cons of this establishment.

I give it 3 stars because I believe for what I paid, it was what one can expect. If you want a better experience, then you have to pay more for a better hotel.

So, I have to write about my very bad experience on Christmas holiday time ever.. We dont have a heater and no warm water.. On 25 December i called to explain that we dont have a hot water and the heater doesnt work.. One of the guy (Arun Rajah) told me to make this problem clear.. In 3 hours still no news.. I called him again, and he said only sorry something felt with the instalation.. Then, in 2 hours still no news.. I called him again to make this problem clear.. And i wrote him email that msybe and hopefully he offered me another Swiss Star room.. No change.. The next day.. 26 December until 22:10 still doesnt work.. So.. 2 days i didnt take a shower.. Super.. Thanks for bring us to a wonderful Christmas holiday ever in my life.. I really dont recommend this hotel.. I do really serious.. Believe me.. We only get a bad service here.. And they only can say sorry.. Es tut uns Leid.. Entschuldigung.. Bla bla bla.. Sorry guys.. Cheap doesnt mean good.. Better you go to another hotel.. For Mr. Arun Rajah.. Thanks for doing nothing.. I know you just sitting there at the office..
