Our group stayed at the Hotel Du Lac towards the end of July when Locarno was basking in hot and fairly humid weather. We arrived by train and the hotel is easy to find, being just a few minutes walk from the station and about the same distance from the actual lake shore by the time you have crossed a couple of busy roads to get there.
We really enjoyed our stay - our room was comfortable and spacious, spotlessly clean and with a front facing terrace with sun blind which we enjoyed during the cool of the early morning or late evening.
Breakfast was excellent - well tended to and regularly replenished with a good selection of muesli, fruit, cheeses, hams and breads. The bread was some of the best we tasted on our trip. There's an elevator to reach the upper floors.
Given the warm nights it was difficult to get a consistently good nights sleep - the aircon was a little noisy, plus noise from outside during the night was distracting if windows were left open. However, it isn't always that warm in Locarno and shouldn't detract from an overall very enjoyable stay.
