Visited on a Thursday evening when the rest of the old town area was very quiet, the restaurant was bustling! We hadn't booked but were seated at the end of a long table with other diners at the far end. This didn't bother us at all and gave it a nice 'communal' dining feel.

Our waitress was attentive and welcoming, asking whether we wanted to see the English menu rather than just bringing it over and assuming we did, which was a nice touch.

The food was INCREDIBLE, massive portions (we were very hungry after a long day, so didn't mind!). All meat cooked to perfection, vegetables well seasoned, fries crispy.

The dessert menu didn't tempt us, but we were given a complimentary shot (we think it was whisky) topped with whipped cream.

The menu came to around £27 each including beers, not cheap by any standard but where in Switzerland is!? With food this good we didn't mind paying!

We didn't make reservations, but got a table. My husband had schnietzel and I opted for Capuns. Strudel was a dessert.
My capuns were so tasty thay I even didn't mention milk sauce (I am lactose-intolerant). Schnietzel was a bit hard, but okayish. Strudel was nice and warm.
I could recommend this place for sure. It's not cheap, but worth trying.

Fairly whacked out by our long journey to get to Chur we did very little research prior to leaving the hotel to find dinner. But we had noted the name and location of this restaurant and as it was close to our hotel we headed straight there. We were lucky, with no prior booking and a limited number of tables in the restaurant we were shown to a table where we ended up sharing with some Swiss people and an American. We ended up having a good chat with them all. Indeed on our second night in Chur we went to a different restaurant, it was also very busy (there was a carnival going on in town) and we were offered a shared table, which we accepted, again we had a good chat with a German/Swiss couple. It seems you need to be prepared to share tables in these parts. Anyhow back to this restaurant, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and spoke sufficient English to help us along. There was also an English menu. The menu itself was not extensive it had a few meat based meals, the wienerschnitzel was good as was the pork in a mushroom sauce. You have to separately order your potatoes or veg if you want them. We both had seasonal vegetables added to our meals which included brussel sprouts and creamed cabbage. But we both enjoyed what we ordered. With a beer each the bill came to around £50. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed an excellent dinner on our overnight stay prior to Bernina Express. Delicious schnitzels, great beer & delicious red wine. Enjoy!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our travel agent. We were not disappointed. The tables were constantly filled as the restaurant is very small. They had a short menu of local dishes. I had spaetzle in a bacon cream sauce. Yummy! The restaurant is in Old Town in Martinsplatz.
