Nice building, well located and faculties all good with a spa and swimming pool. Staff are not so good at welcoming guests, always busy and make you feel like they are doing you a favour by offering service. Restaurant was quite busy and if you don’t book you won’t get a table even if there is one that might be free. They leave an ice cream fridge by the main entrance which looks like a nice complimentary item. However, they charge later on with a high price per cup that is to be discovered rather than advertised at the outset. On raising it with staff they are unapologetic.

It's about a 10 mins walk from the train station, very easy to find probably the largest building. Check in was fairly straight forward just make sure you have your covid paper work etc as they take it very seriously. My room was nice and compact it was like brand new as if refurbished last week, the attention to detail for practical reasons is absolutely incredible USB ports layout of room bathroom etc absolutely fantastic and clean. Tea coffee maker is state of the art, fridge is full of soft drinks everyday all included free. Room service is spot on and very polite. The open buffet breakfast will ask you everyday for your proof of certificate so massive effort into covid prevention. I found the selection of breakfast buffet to be some what bland and limited but I think it's the food culture of the region and all the hotels will roughly have the same. Now the views from my room were facing the back of the hotel so I saw that beautiful green hills and wooden houses, but the views from the other side facing the mountain are absolutely breath taking. So I think it's worth asking which views you will have. There is a lovely fireplace area nice and cosy to sip your beer or coffee. Also a front garden area facing the unbelievable mountains. I particularly chose this hotel for its spa facilities, it was well worth it, they have a large swimming pool. Downstairs adults only steam room sauna facilities and massage etc, all in hygienic compliance and spotless. The reception staff are all very helpful advising you on where to go when to go depending on the weather. You could easily buy a ticket and find it's a waste of money as visibility is poor they will advise, and how to save money with tickets would definitely come back to this hotel.

Facing the magnificent Mont Eiger, this Swiss alpine accommodation offers warm hospitality.. complimentary mini bar and freshly made butter at the lavish buffet breakfast. Did I mention they also offer complimentary bus/train rides?

Location is perfect, right across the cable far ride to Grindelwald First Cliff Walk. Nightly pianist entertainment as you relax in the lobby, choice of two restaurants for meals.

I love the warm, Swiss hospitality at Sunstar, making us feel like valued guests. Will definitely return to Sunstar and look forward to check out other Sunstar establishments throughout Switzerland.

Awesome team at Sunstar Grindelwald.. special mention to Hubert at the front desk, whose patience and professionalism made our visit a pleasant and memorable one, thank you.

Overall a great hotel with an expansive breakfast buffet and great value. The swimming pool and spa is very nice and thankfully pool hours are good. The free drinks in the minibar were appreciated. Less good was the heavily worn bathroom floor and fixtures, and overall small room and impossibility of an upgrade. I would stay here again.

The hotel is very close to the cable car station up to First. Rooms are Swiss style, clean and functional. Price is about average for Grindelwald, but again what makes this hotel a good bet is the pool and spa area. Breakfast was very good and the breakfast room itself excellent since it was easily able to accommodate the large number of people. Reception staff were good. I was told by the staff at the Spa that children were not allowed to use the pool unless I was there, which might be a problem if you fancy letting your older children have some time on their own. In summary, a good choice, mainly because of the pool.
