Everything is slick about this establishment. We parked, easily underground and walked into the hotel foyer. It is clean and sparkly. We were greeted by every employee as we passed. Polished. At the restaurant, we were conveyed to our table - sort of wafted there. Large, comfortable seats. Almost, but not quite, too big. Opulent. We were then left alone for a few minutes. I like that. I dislike being hustled into a first drink. When a waiter appeared, it was softly. We had Champagne, pink. The menu is simple. This is not experimental or flamboyant cooking. Japanese smoked eel. Lovely. Simple. Fish. Chunky, firm. Perfect. Rhubarb to finish. Vanilla, sweet, but not too sweet. In between comes a range of little dishes. Elegant. Tasty. Only one was “adventurous” - potato cappuccino, with truffle. Lovely. Wine by the glass. Tap water by the carafe. Lovely bread. Interesting butters. Great staff. Great views. What’s not to love?
