I had a booking at Hotel Comedie in Geneva. I booked it the night before my scheduled stay on Aug 14th. The next morning we left from Chamonix France and began traveling to Geneva. I did not have internet access at the time of travel. We finally get to Geneva and after walking around lost for about 45 min with all our luggage, we find the hotel.
No one is at the front desk, so tired, hungry, and sweaty I just decide to accept the international charges on my phone and call the number. A woman answers and tells me she will come down in 20 minutes. So, after waiting almost 35 minutes just sitting on the sidewalk she arrives. She tells me she emailed me (which I did not receive and honestly, I think she was lying) to tell me that we couldn't have the room for the advertised CHF 55 and she had cancelled our reservation. She said booking.com must have made a mistake and that the rooms are CHF 155 if we are still interested.
I am irate at the way I was treated and the fact that she was allowed to just cancel our booking. It was a great inconvenience and we were not even notified until we arrived.
Luckily, Le Prince down the street was able to accommodate us at a reasonable price and treat us with dignity.More
