This boutique style hotel is situated in a 500-year-old building decorated with Art Nouveau paintings, furniture and works of art located in the lower old town of Bern. Some local features include the Berner Munster and Nydegg Church within 5 minutes and the Bundeshaus about 15 min away; this 4-star hotel is located in Bern's Old Town, close to the Aare River. This is smoke-free hotel and WiFi in public areas is free, but no A/C. Although there is no kettle in the room to make coffee/tea there are many useful amenities, including dry cleaning, free weekday newspapers, and hair dryers as well as cable TV, safe, and a minibar. The restaurant, Le Chariot, is expensive (it is Switzerland) but good cuisine and fine wines. The in-house art collection includes works by Gustav Klimt and some of the spacious rooms are decorated in the style of different artists, such as in the Junior Suite Klimt. A memorable experience and friendly helpful staff.

We stayed 4 nights in this Hotel.

The Good Points are :
Staff were very pleasant/helpful.
The location is great.

Bad Points :
I was very surprised to see a plastic shower curtain instead of a proper shower surround in a 4 star hotel. The bottom of this curtain was discoloured in a way that was not pleasant.
My duvet cover had several holes in it.
The towels had no fluffiness to them at all & also fell below bath towel size.
Only on day one, did we have small plastic cups in the room with 2 teabags. From day 2 onwards, no tea bags replaced.

The hotel is on a main street over some shops so it is not easy to spot from the street. The location is very good and on arrival we were given a city card which gives you free public transport on buses and funicular railways ,which was a bonus for us. The hotel has not got its own car park but there is one round the corner at an extra cost. Our room was overlooking the main street but still quiet at night.

Bern is a nice old town center and the hotel is well located but would generally recommend skipping: No A/C, small and tired elevator, missing basic amenities of a business hotel (like iron, coffee in room). No lobby to sit in, no parking, no fitness..... etc.

Many of the reviews have already described how dated the accommodation in this hotel is. It's located in the centre of the city and its the location which redeems this venue. The parking was a distance from the hotel and was expensive. The reception staff were warm and welcoming.
