Switzerland's federal government is much different than the United States. The individual states are autonomous. Seeing the Federal Building after learning the history of Switzerland made more it more interesting to see.

Beautiful building with a small park area for picnic and view the sun setting over the city of Bern. One a clear day, you can also see the Alps. On the other side of the building is a small fountain, providing amusement for all especially for the kids.

The Federal Building housing the Swiss parliament is majestic. It has a classy grandeur attached to it. Visitors can enter the building free of charge, and without any security check. I didn't spot any policeman on the premises. One can also watch the proceedings, which I didn't opt for. I preferred to catch the beauty of the river and the old buildings. The building is adjacent to a hotel, a lane – and not a wall - separating the two.
