We did a half day walking tour of Perugia starting at our Hotel (Brufani). While all of the attractions were free the tour was well worth the expense. Our tour guide was extremely passionate about her city and very knowledgable. The underground ruins, medieval church and town hall were beautiful.

If you are considering Perugia then do yourself a favour and stop off.

Our agriturismos L' Cretaiole arranged a tour for us at Assisi with guide Daniela Moretti who was a joy to tour the city with. She started at a church called Santa Maria de los Angeles and that is where the US gets Los Angeles. Then we proceeded into the area just outside the hilltop town where she told us a unique story about the end of St Francis life and gave us the bllessing that St Francis wanted to give every traveller to Assisi. It brought tears to your eyes. Then we drove up to the cathedral & monastery areas. She is fun, friendly and very knowledgeable about the entire area of Umbria & lives in Perugia. 4 years ago I travelled with Trafalgar and when I saw her I remembered she was my tour guide then. So, I knew we were in for a great tour. And it was!

We recently spent 14 days in Italy and are very grateful to Daniela and her staff for planning the Trip-of -a-lifetime for our group of 8 (all close friends). We started in Venice (4 days), and then took high speed trains to Florence /Tuscany (4 days), Rome (3 days), and Positano/Amalfi Coast (3 days) via Naples using a private van for the drive from Naples to Positano . We contacted FourITinerario "Discover Your Italy" via email over a year ago and corresponded several times with only two phone calls (our choice) to discuss our interests. This was the first trip to Italy for everyone in our group and we were looking for suggestions in order to satisfy everyone. Daniela listened to our wants and questions, and from that suggested many options that all sounded interesting and exciting. Even after we thought we finalized our itinerary, Daniela happily made additional changes to dates, one hotel, and tours. Once we were met at the Venice Airport by a private van driver, we never had to worry about anything else the entire trip. Upon check in to our first hotel we received a package from Daniela with a smart phone than included pre-paid calling time, directions to restaurants we'd requested, a directory of direct phone lines for her and her staff, a file of pdfs of our itinerary, train schedules and tickets, hotel reservations and addresses, and copies of our tour reservations and tickets. This was very handy throughout the trip! The tours were personalized with private tour guides who lived locally in the areas we stayed in. All the guides were fluent in English and were interested in customizing the tour to us. They were all certified professional guides, and happy to focus on our interests. Several even took the time to lead us to favorite restaurants (beyond the tourist areas) after the tours or help with directions or taxis to aid us in getting to wherever our group was heading next. All were generous of their time and efforts to make this one of the most special times in our lives. Our accommodations were fantastic, and Daniela also was flexible on hotels to accommodate personal preferences. Our van and group/private tours to two Winerys were unbelievable and included meals. The van and guided tours to Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, and Pompeii were beyond imagination, and the private boat tour along the Amalifi coast and town of Amalfi were beautiful. Our visit to Capri was nice, but the weather fogged in the peak of the island so we didn't get the great views were hoping for. One of the unexpected and most appreciated elements of the trip was the private van drivers. They all met us on time, were professional drivers, and would met us at each hotel lobby or train platform, assisted with bags, and led us to the van for the drive to our next destination. They also led us to the next train platform or assist with making the connection with the hotel or tour venue. I just cannot imagine attempting to plan this level of detail for vans, trains, tours; and train and venue tickets from outside of Italy for a group. For anyone planning a group trip, the logistics of managing these details for four or five locations should not be underestimated. There is no question that FourITinerario was concerned with every detail of our trip. I was not surprised to receive a call during our stay from Daniela asking if everything was okay. In fact we contacted Daniela a couple of times with a question to confirm guide meeting locations. Several days into the trip we made a tour and van change for the next day. Each time we called we were able to talk to Daniela directly, and she happily accommodated our requests. The degree of professionalism and attention to our personal desires is to be commended and we give them our highest praise for this experience. If you are planning a trip to Italy you cannot go wrong with FourITinerario,

I ended up being the only one on this tour, so I had the guide to myself. At every single place that we stopped at, he had a historical background story. He told me that they have to pass a difficult test and are only allowed to guide in that region. I learned a lot and saw some beautiful monuments that I would not have been able to see on my own. Plus, he gave me a ride to the airport. Great tour, I would do it again!

My husband & I took a day tour to Assisi & Spello with Danilo from Umbria Tours. It was a wonderful experience and Dan was informative. We learned so much and enjoyed the whole experience. He is a wonderful young man and an asset to this company. We have friends going to Umbria in a few weeks and we are highly recommending they get in touch with Dan. Assisi was beautiful and Dan made us appreciate it by seeing it through his eyes.
