We went to Il Panero with three teenagers. The food is good and it certainly has a local feel. As mentioned by other reviewers they try to sell you more food and drinks all night. But it is absolutely not that cheap. We have been to much nicher playes in Gubbio for less. But if you Love authentic food, go for it.

A great place to go for an uncomplicated casual dinner, Il Panaro is focused on authentic Umbrian cusine, especially "Crescia", a kind of pizzabread filled with different food from the region.

We would never have stopped at this restaurant if it had not been recommended by a local person. For a start, you would easily drive by without noticing it (it's up a slip road off the main road though we'll signposted) and then when you get there you think...did they really mean this place?? You go past the bar to the restaurant at the back, busy with local diners. We went for the dish of the day...veal meatballs (with tomato flavoured sauce or just 'bianco"). Deliciously simple. As were the accompanying greens and panfried peppers.

Yes, the waiter does try and encourage you to eat or drink more but some of it is actually on the house!

Kitchen open til 3pm.

If you drive by and step out your car do not hesitate to enter the taverna! It looks a bit shabby.... Just take your seat and order one of their simple authentic Umbrian meals. We had their pastas, beef tagliata (balsemico and also the oregano). You will get it together with their famous and delicious pizza style bread. All fairly priced. And very friendly service!!!!

We stopped by twice in a week. The place gets busy, with mainly locals. Food is really good and service is attentive, and working hard to sell more courses than you planned. But as it is cooked well, you shouldn't complain.
