The location of the cottage is perfect- 1 km from Siena and in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We had a car but we think it would be very difficult without your own transport to shop for supplies. It was very hot during our 7 day visit and there was no air conditioning in the house. Anna did bring us a pedestal fan but this was only effective in the one room. It must be stifling in July/August.
We have travelled Europe for 6 weeks, stayed in 10 different apartments and this was the only one that we had to request and them pay for wifi. It costs €5 per day.
Anna is very knowledgable about her local region and was willing to spend time to share her knowledge with us.
We had a lovely time staying at the cottage! It was very private with beautiful views and a lovely castle nearby that is a BnB but was pretty to visit. Our host Anna was prompt and kept in contact with us, speaks perfect English which makes it a lot easier to communicate and she met us even when we arrived at nine pm due to my sister being ill and a delay in our journey. The cottage had three rooms and a kitchen with everything you need. We picked up groceries and cooked and had wine outside. We loved that part of it! The walk down to the stores wasn't too bad but is a good fifteen minute walk and uphill when going back. We just took the bus to the center of Siena because it is not a walkable distance but it was pretty easy to navigate there. Anna can help you with any questions! I would recommend doing a wine tour- we didn't get a chance to but there are many options available. The only downside was that there was no wifi, and on the advertisement to book the cottage it says there is wifi but for a few euros a day. When we asked Anna, however she said there wasn't any available. But Anna helped us set up transport by taxi to/fro the train station which wasn't too far. Great experience overall!
