I loved this hotel. Beautiful location just 10 minutes walk from San Gmignano, and yet with wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside. Pool and garden area so relaxing. Breakfast plentiful and can be enjoyed outside on the terrace. We were in a standard room and I can see others have commented on the rooms being small. When we first saw the room we were surprised how small it was but nonetheless found it very comfortable with plenty of storage space. We were there for 4 nights so perhaps if staying for longer, an upgrade to your room would be worthwhile.

We spent a fabulous 5 nights at the Santa Chiara and would go back tomorrow if we could.
The location is perfect as it is a 5-minute walk to the town gates, so you are away from the bustle of the town during the day when the tourist coaches arrive but on the doorstep to make the most of the beautiful town when you wish to. The position overlooking the Tuscan countryside is one of the most stunning locations we have ever stayed in.

We had a first-floor room with a balcony which was worth double the extra we paid for it. The views are priceless. The room itself was large and comfortable, nice sitting area, lots of storage and a great shower. The only niggle we had was the slightly under performing air conditioning, but it did its job.

Breakfast was lovely, served on the terrace with a wide selection of fresh fruit, breads, meats and cheeses along with cereals, pastries and juices.

Lunch can be served on the terrace as well and we had a couple of lovely lunches of freshly prepared Prosciutto and Melon or Mozzarella and tomatoes. Perfect!

The hotel itself is wonderfully presented with lovely common areas but the real highlight is the staff.

All of the staff from the breakfast team to the cleaning staff and reception members were outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention though to the wonderful Giovanni who sorted out trips, taxis, and even helped out when I had messed up a booking, a real credit to the hotel, he also never seems to have a day off!

Room Tip: Countryside view rooms are priceless!

Have you had the feeling of not being as welcome as others because before arriving for a bargain of 129€?
Have you ever been caught in a room without windows in a 4 star hotel without telling you previously?
Oh!! It s true the window is touching the ceilling behind the curtain.
No plugs, no decent wifi, a real room for serving staff. Miserable. Shame on you. I prefer be told that there is no room available. Scored with 1 because 0 is not possible

Stayed here in June this year & can highly recommend. We paid extra for a room with a few of the Tuscan Hills & I would highly recommend this type of room. Yes the room was small, but we didn’t spend a great deal of time in it, as when we were there, we spent most of our time on the gorgeous spacious balcony. I felt though that the room was well appointed in terms of storage, plenty of shelves/hooks etc. So never felt cluttered.
The hotel had a lovely relaxing feel to it & the staff were very friendly & helpful. We ate breakfast each morning on the patio overlooking the pool & it was the perfect start to the day. The pool area is relaxing too, with plenty of loungers around the pool & grassed area surrounding the pool.
San Gimigiano is a lovely place to Potter around & the food everywhere we ate was of a very high quality & delicious. It is a busy town but does quieten off on an evening....it’s well worth a walk around later on in the day when the day tourists have left. The hotel is only a few mins walk from the centre of SG but located on a quiet side road with no noise from the town.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in beautiful Tuscany.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of our two centre Tuscan holiday (other centre was Lucca). The hotel was ideally located, a 5 minute walk from the city walls with some amazing views of the countryside. We stayed in a Superior Double Room with a view, it was a good size with a seated area and a small balcony. Must admit I would have expected tea and coffee facilities given the price of the room. Breakfast was fine, mostly continental with some scrambled egg and bacon. Outside there is a garden area and pool with a number of sun loungers.
