“Great location for exploring, not much charm.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2012

This hotel is right across the street from the Leaning Tower, Duomo, and Baptistery. The street rooms can be noisy. Basic, clean rooms without much luxury. Breakfast was included and satisfactory. No parking! You have to park around the corner about a 1/4 mile away. Problem is, you have to run the gauntlet through hordes of street hustlers to walk back... and hope your rental car has not been broken into. Can't beat the location, though. Would stay there again just for the convenience.

Room Tip: The street rooms have an excellent night view of the Leaning Tower, but can be noisy.

As all other reviewers mentioned, the is just around the corner to the main Tower of Pisa tourist site. We booked two triple rooms, both of these are facing a main road. It is quite noisy in the middle of the night but we were tired enough to have a good sleep. Rooms were basic and clean but I would not say they were maintained to a high standard. We found stuff (used maps, bus tickets) from previous guests left in drawers. The other room had their window shutter (metallic) broken in the evening and nobody was fixing it so they were woken up early by the sun. Bathroom is VERY TIGHT. We are just normal sized small Chinese people and sitting in the WC, your head can bump into the wall if you are not taking care. Shower cubicle is small, with the curtain touching the body all the time, one can easily knock the tap and had the water temperature changed unintentionally. Breakfast is as good as a normal continental breakfast. The crossiant was very good. The coffee was very good when it was freshly made. The service ladies were friendly and helpful. The counter staff, we had mixed experience. When we first arrived, there was a mid-aged chap who seemed relunctant about moving either his body or his mouth. We arrived early and asked if we could leave our luggage, he gestured with minimal head and body movement to an exit to the lounge, "there". That was like a sitting lounge and not a luggage area so we asked for more specific instructions, then he unwillingly walked out of his booth and showed us a corner where we could put our stuff. Perhaps his English was not good, but at least one could show a smile and make people felt welcomed. He did not make that effort. Later when we returned to check in, the booth was maned by a young bloke called Lucas. He was much more friendly, his English better, and he was more enthusiastic in showing us where we should visit, where to have food, and areas where we should avoid, etc. He made us felt welcomed. But his recommendation of a Tuscany restaurant was not a good one. Very pricy and the food very salty. I could not remember the name but not a good choice. Another thing about this hotel is, if you are not driving and rely on bus to transfer you from the airport, there is no information on their web site to show you how to get there. So we found out that at the airport, you need to take the bus named "LAM ROSSA" and then get off at the stop called "BONANNO 5", the hotel is just across the street. Hope this can help someone.

Room Tip: Avoid the triple rooms, they are facing the main road.

We booked this hotel for 1 night on line at venere.com and noted the confirmation number and price. The confirmation clearly stated that breakfast was included. We did not however, print out this confirmation. We arrived early in the morning (approx 0930), having travelled from Barga, and as we were due to leave the next morning at 0530, we asked whether we could have our breakfast there and then. The manager on duty refused point blank and said under no circumstances would we receive our breakfast. Whether this was because of the unusual request or because he did not believe that breakfast was included in the price was not evident. In any event the experience was not good, and we were disappointed with the breakfast (the coffee was of poor quality) and the service was average.

The Roma Hotel is perfectly placed for getting around Pisa, there is a regular bus service from the door to central Pisa and the railway station. The hotel is small; the rooms comfortable and clean with a daily maid service, the breakfast was very good, the staff friendly and helpful, answering any travel questions I put to them about other towns and cities in the area.

Pisa is not an attractive tow, apart from the Tower and immediate area. I saw little to recommend it, but it is a great base from which to explore Tuscany, especially by train, the rail system is efficient and cheap.

Stayed at the Hotel Roma for one night after 2 nights in Florence before flying back from Pisa Airport. Lovely hotel literally around the corner from the Leaning Tower of Pisa, was just across the road and square. Very clean and quiet hotel with lovely little garden to the rear and a large lounge area. The hotel also has internet facilities, very useful for flight check-in. Breakfast was continental with croissants, cereals, porridge, biscuits etc. but very adequate. Fantastic hotel for a one night stay or even two. However, Pisa really only needs 1 day or could even be done on a day trip from Florence. Would certainly book and stay here again if ever in Pisa. The air conditioning in the room was a god send in the heat of July.

Room Tip: Very quiet hotel don't be put off by main road
