Stayed here for 1 night before our flight home. Pisa is a strange city, possibly one that is used for the single tourist attraction and the fact it is close to Tuscany’s airport. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the train station where you can catch the airport shuttle tram direct.

The hotel is set on a number of floors and very traditional in both its policies and the decor (having to leave your room key before you go out so they know who is in or out feels very 1990’s!). Having said that, the room was very large (suite) and was peaceful with good air conditioning.

Furniture was very traditional as was the layout and it also had mechanical shutters on the windows to complete the locked in feel. Staff were efficient in their service.

Super welcoming staff. Even though we landed late at the Pisa airport, the staff was very warm and welcoming. The room was quite large and super clean. The hotel is less than 5mn away from the train station, perfect for a stop-over before travelling to Florence/ Tuscany and 15mn away from city center.

Nice, small hotel, with family atmosphere, located on walking distance from the train station. A great hotel in its category, as Three-star hotel.

Very friendly, and helpful personnel.

Breakfast is quite basic, but the coffee and croissant are as good as they should be.

Clean.

For those who sleep with open window, there are mosquitos around, which is an appreciated sign of clean air, and nature. The hotel provides adapter with tablets in the rooms, as a nice gesture.

Slow internet.

Very good, clean comfortable hotel. Just 5-10 minutes walk from Pisa Train Station. Lot of restaurants nearby and just a 10 minute drive from the leaning tower.

Spacious rooms and a sumptuous breakfast

My friend and I were visiting Pisa for a couple days and were trying to be a little more conservative with our budget. I found Hotel Alessandro della Spina on Booking.com because they were having an excellent room deal and it was the best option since we didn't want to stay in a hostel.

Location: 5/5
The hotel was less than 10 mins walking distance from the train station, which was perfect for us because we arrived and left via train. One of the things we loved about Pisa was how pedestrian friendly the city is, and the hotel was in a prime location! It's about 20 mins walking to the Leaning Tower and there is a plaza nearby, about 10 mins walking distance, with tons of shops and restaurants.

Room: 4/5
I think we got a handicap room, so it was nice and big. The beds were quite comfortable but there was a strong, musty smell when we first checked in. However, the room was clean. The only thing we struggled with was the shower - the doors didn't close properly so a lot of water would end up on the floor afterwards - and when I called for extra towels to clean it up, the man at the front desk told me no because we are only allowed towels for 2 people. When I insisted, he hung up on me and brought one floor towel :-(

Value: 4/5
The deal we got on Booking.com was fantastic for our budget and the hotel itself is very nice. We also paid for breakfast both mornings (9€ per person, per day) which was delicious!

Service: 4/5
The workers (not sure if they were the owners) who took care of breakfast both mornings were very friendly. Only giving 4/5 because of the man who didn't want to give me extra towels.

Overall, if you are looking for a price-friendly hotel (that is not a hostel) for a short stay, Hotel Alessandro della Spina is your place to go!
