Small hotel near the station but no rail noise at night that I heard. Be mindful though there is a rail overpass to cross to get there from the station so it can be challenging for somebody with heavy luggage or mobility issues as there is no lift. There is no lift in the hotel either but staff is willing to help.

My single room was specious. Sheets and towels clean. Unfortunately the walls showed many scratches and dirt so it was a bit of turn off as a first impression. Although the room looked like on a picture advertised. Very small tv on a wall. Table lamp was broken but still working. Unfortunately, can't say the same about the aircon… It was a hot, summer day and when arrived was assured it was just put on and will cool down. Left it like this and went out. Returning back in a few hours my room still hot and showing 27-28 deg C. However, think it was more like 24-25. Still hot though. When reported the issue to reception I was only told the aircon was just put back on my return (?) and how to use it and not even attempting to check if I did it correct as I expected. Which suspect was the give away there is something wrong with it and they don't want to face it.  Temp hardly dropped throughout the night. And the only ventilation was the open window as no ceiling or standing fans were provided.

There was also a bit of misty smell in the room. I guess due to the summer heat and no aircon.

Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated.  Sink, bidet and toilet were clean. However, shower already shown visible signs of mould between the tiles.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Breakfast was basic and not very appealing but in a quite nice indoor room with additional outdoor tables.

Wifi was working ok but dropping a few times in the room.

Overall it was an average experience. Staff was very nice and helpful though and highlight of my stay there.

This is a very good small hotel just outside the city walls of Lucca and very close to the railway station. Friendly and helpful staff and pretty good typical breakfast. Simple clean rooms. Not perfect for anyone disabled (ask for ground floor if you don't do steps). Just over a railway bridge from walled city.

Thanks so much for your review! We are really happy that you had a good experience on our structure!
It's true for disabled question, because we are inside an historical building, where it's no possibile to make inside an elevator, but we have 2 rooms at ground floor, double and large, special for that kind of situation!

Thanks a lot again,
Hope to see you again in Lucca!

We had booked a standard double, but it was really small and pokey, and we had an uncomfortable night. The better rooms are fine, and we moved into a larger one next door for only 10 euros a night extra, and were happy for the next few nights. The staff were helpful. The position is good, just 200 m from the walls to get into the centre of Lucca. Plenty to do in the town for three days, before you need to think about anywhere else, and Lucca is easy to get to from the airport on the train, changing at Pisa Central.

Room tip: Unless you like being cramped go for the better double, eg Room 103

This is a nice hotel in Lucca just across the train tracks from the City Gate. It is a short easy walk from the train station. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff was quite friendly and helpful, even allowing us to keep our bikes downstairs inside.

Hotel moderno was close to the city Centre of lucca. Just on The other side of the rail road track. If you take the bridge over the track you enter the old city.

The price was very reasonable, 70euro a night including breakfast and a parking spot. I think this parking spot isn't available all the time.

The breakfast is from 7-10am and is very nice, fruits, coffee, bread and off course Italian sweets.

Only thing I can say for them to change, is start cleaning a bit later. Now they start vacuum cleaning at 8.30 I don't think this is necessary. :)
