We just returned from a once in lifetime, family trip to Italy and we decided to rent an apartment at Piazza San Stefano with Family Apartments because of the fabulous location. Our experience at the apartment was a very mixed bag of good and bad. To speak to the positive, a few minor issues we had with the apartment were responded to and fixed very quickly. I appreciated that kind of responsiveness. The unfortunate situation was with black mold in the apartment. Each morning, my husband and I woke up coughing and it wasn't until the last day that we looked around the apartment and all along the outside wall of the unit were large patches of black mold. The corners, the window area and behind the bed. When we mentioned this to the managers we were told that this was a known issue and that they usually place a dehumidifier in the room. These mold issues were not recent and the fact is they are not inspecting their apartments very well. My husband manages hotels for a living and he told me that if it's a known (and dangerous) issue, they should be much more diligent in room inspection. The managers offered us a slight discount on our next trip to Florence, which will probably never happen...so basically, no real consideration for a known problem in their facility. The apartment is overall very good, but if you are renting, please make certain you inspect the room very well before you end up coughing each morning. I gave three stars because the good and bad kind of cancel each other out.

Everything from the beginning was very positive with Family Appartments. The location of the appartment was perfect and the quality and design very authentic. You can live like an italian in Florence. The atmosphere of the city is amazing and Family appartments makes you feel at home.
I would reccomend these appartments for sure and I hope to come back soon.
Thanks for everything.

Had a great stay at this hotel, the location is ideal, walking distance to all the attractions. The hotel staff very friendly, gave us all the info we needed and assisted us with luggage to apartment

Very comfy beds and great shower and facilities in the apartment

The apartment is on the 2nd floor and if you have small children can be a bit tough going up the stairs but the apartment has a lift which can hold 3 adults, this came in handy on evenings when coming back tired from walking

Will return again, recommended

We couldn’t believe how good the location was for our apartment (right in the Duomo in the old city of Florence), particularly given the excellent value! A rare find in such a tourist hub. Highly recommend.

Very uncaring and rude staff, but I see that they are extremely attentive to public relations on this site. I feel much more effort is put into "spin" than into genuine hospitality or care. Our representative spent less than 10 minutes explaining the apartment and was obviously distracted. Zero warmth or interest shown to us. Building smelled overwhelmingly of cabbage and was none too clean. The location is great and the facilities adequate. A very nice shower. Upon leaving, we stopped at the offices to leave some luggage. The sales person here (different again) was very curt and, surprise surprise, hit us up with another charge for storage. She said if we didn't like it we could 'go to the train station'. The luggage charge is NOT mentioned in the information booklet provided. Honestly, Family Apartments seem like used-car sales staff who substitute corporate clothing and air freshener for hospitality.
