The location was very convenient, with beautiful views, especially from the third floor, where we stayed. You can buy city bus tickets at the front desk, and walk to the bottom of the hill to catch the bus right into downtown and all the sights. However, the rooms and breakfast were acceptable, nothing more, and the reception staff was cold and unhelpful (at least the woman who was there when we had questions, bought bus tickets, and checked out). I think the language barrier may have been at play, but a smile is universal and costs nothing. To give an example, when we bought bus tickets on Easter morning, we walked down to the stop and were told by a local walking by that the bus wasn't running due to the holiday. When we walked back up to the hotel, we were greeted with a blank stare and told we could call a taxi (by the same reception staff member who'd just sold us the bus tickets). Upon check out, no smile, no "grazie", nothing.

We stayed for 2 nights here we had a rental car and the parking was free (we chose this hotel for this reason)
We took the bus 7 to piazza San Marco easily no need to take the car
And came back night busses are sometimes problematic
You can but tickets from the hotel 1.20 € each
Hotel was good but there was some voice as there was no carpet on the floor

The location of Villa la Stella is good as it;s away from the busy city centre of Florence and the views from the villa are amazing. However the staff are rude, unhelpful and made my stay quite uncomfortable. Also breakfast was not great, I would not come back.

Stayed here for 3 weeks for a course and the room was quite large with tiny Italian shower cabin in bathroom. Had a view overlooking garden which was very pleasant. Some rooms have even better district views, some with balconies. Ask for one of these rooms if possible. All of them are quiet as the area is in a peaceful, upmarket residential area, Fiesole with large estates and private villas. Breakfast could be improved; mostly sugary foods eg cakes and cereals with tiny cups for tea or coffee.

Room Tip: A room with a view on a higher floor would be ideal
