Nice hotel, with quite basic rooms, but just all I need. About five minutes walk to piazza del duomo and even closer to the main train station firenze S.M.N.. You just walk to the hotel. Busy street close by, but I haven't heard any noise yet (at 2nd floor though).
Staff at reception speak excellent english. Heating can be regulated in your room, but does not work before 7:30pm, don't know what time it stops again for the day, was still working at 10:00 am. Shutters to keep light out at night.
Breakfast is simple, but good quality, bread, sweet croissants, ham, cheese, jam, chocolate spread.
Bed is comfortable enough for a bed that isn't my own, not too soft nor too hard.
If you have any electrical appliances you need a special plug. Even for me (from continental europe) the sockets are different from home, just smaller holes. I bought a plug at the 99 cent store close to the San Lorenzo church, not far from the hotel.
Free Wifi, even working well on the top floor.
There will be better hotels, but they don't come cheap in Firenze. I found hotel Nizza good value for money.
Tip: cinema odeon screens films in orginal language for only €6. As I was travelling on my own, I enjoyed watching a movie at night. The theatre itself is magnificent.
