The hotel is positioned quite close to the main railway station for those with luggage and travelling by train. It is close (within easy walking distance) to all of the main attractions of Florence. We had a room on the third floor which was quite spacious with a large bathroom.
The hotel was undergoing renovations at the time we were there (October 2011) but this did not affect us either by noise or inconvenience. Breakfast was included and available in a room beside reception on the ground floor. Free WiFi in room. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room were clean.

There is a fantastic restaurant one street away (Via della Scala). If you are standing in front of the station looking away from the hotel the street one block back. It had a few restaurants, one in particular, with out door seating has fantastic food and even states on their menu 'the price you see is the price you pay'. There were plenty of locals eating at the restaurant as well.

The hotel is across the road from the SMN train station. Reception is on the ground floor and the rooms are on the third floor.

We were given a room fronting onto the street, which were surprising quiet given the proximity to traffic.

The rooms are adequate. Ok as a base, however nothing special. There was rubbish in the bins in our room, so that had clearly not been removed. The cleaning had not been done to a high standard at all. It was not filthy, however would not class it as clean either.

As other reviews have stated the hotel is under going a refurbishment so the hallway is quite a mess and there are workmen around. We were not warned of this upon check in so it came as quite a shock.

Breakfast was standard European Coffee, juice, meat, cheese, pastries, cereal, and yoghurt.

We paid around €60 for a double room including breakfast. For this price it was fine, could overlook the building work, and the level of cleanliness offered due to the location of the hotel. Upon check-in we were told that the room were in generally goes for €140 per night. If we had paid that we would have been extremely disappointed.

If you get a good price and are using the room only as a base then this could be ok. If you are holidaying and expect to spend any time in your room other than sleeping look elsewhere.

Room Tip: There is a fantastic restaurant one street away (Via della Scala). If you are standing in front of the station looking away from the hotel the street one block back. It had a few restaurants, one in particular, with out door seating has fantastic food and even states on their menu 'the price you see is the price you pay'. The hotel is a good deal for a basic, no frills place. The room has the basics, like a fridge, plus free wifi is very nice. It was a little slow for watching videos (YouTube on a sleepless night...) but fine for email and searching sites for our itinerary. The bathroom was fine with enough room to move around. Breakfast was your typical European free breakfast of breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, etc. The bread was baked fresh each morning, so that's a plus. We stayed in the main building, not the annex. The lobby is on the ground floor (well, a few steps up so probably not good for anyone who can't use stairs) and the rooms are on the 3rd floor with elevator service. They still have a lot of construction going on but we didn't notice any noise. Other than appearance, the construction didn't affect us at all.

The hotel is located right across the street from the train station; a benefit after traveling for numerous hours. The inside of the hotel is very desirable but rooms on the third will witness a great deal of construction in the hallways. The rooms are a great size for two people and are extremely sanitary. The air conditioning barely works but is somewhat of a help to cool your body down. Some of the staff is helpful while other members are quite rude. The breakfast looked to have many options but get there early or else there will be NO food left. When we asked the kitchen staff to replenish the dishes the replied, "There's nothing left!" There are many other hotels throughout the city so you might not want to settle here.

Big rooms, simplicity and an overall nice service. Just 2m from the SMN train estation in Florence.
The hotel is in the middle of an important reshuffle and there were works in different parts of the hotel. Nevertheless we weren't disturbed by them. Too simple breakfast!
