Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

This is the most spectacular way to see Florence -- but of course, many other people do as well -- so be prepared for crowds. Take the bus us (15 or 16, as I recall) and walk back down to town.

“Excellent viewing platform”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

We walked here and found it to be quite pleasant, the only bug bear is the amount of litter scattered which is a shame. The area itself gives a clear view over a most wonderful city.

“Lovers galore”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

During the day, Piazzale Michelangelo is filled with tourists and locals alike, as well as vendors during the warmer weather. At night, the crowd is perhaps a bit less classy... but it's the perfect make out spot!
P.S. the David isn't real.

Take a taxi or walk but don't miss the views from this high promentory overlooking Florence. The city is laid out before you with views of the entire Arno valley.

“what a view!”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

If you are visiting Florence for a day or two by car do not try to drive into the old city. The view from this vantage point is spectacular with vistas of the old city of Florence and the Duomo. Park your car here and take the stairs down to the Arno river and then across the bridge. The tourism office in front of the Santa Croce church has been closed for some time and relocated to be near the Duomo. It's not too far to walk unless you have a lot of luggage.
