From the moment we arrived to when we departed two days later we appreciated the warm, generous feeling that the staff of Hotel David provided. The extra "freebies" as mentioned by other reviewers indicates how much the proprietors have thought about what it is that makes guests feel welcome in their boutique hotel.
We had a lovely room on the third floor with comfortable bed, french doors out to a patio with table and chairs, and a large gleaming white bathroom which had a colourful tiled frieze - and a small window overlooking the front street. A big plus was the large drawer below the bathroom bench for storing one's bathroom gear.
We used the D bus each day to travel to and from the area near the Ponte Vecchio. Also loved catching the bus opposite the hotel to go up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for a fabulous panoramic view over Florence.
Another reason for staying in here was that we had booked dinner at the Bottega del Buon Caffe which is a short walk along Lungarno Cellini - highly recommend for a special night out, and then a stroll back looking at the lights reflected on the Arno, rather romantic. Also enjoyed two meals at the very local Japanese restaurant, Koko when we wanted a change from Italian food.
We've been to Florence several times and should we return, then it will be to Hotel David.More
