We stayed at Hotel L'Orologio as part of a 13 day private tour of Italy booked through Avventure Bellissime.
We cannot speak more highly of the Hotel and staff. The Hotel is situated in a fantastic part of town - centrally located to all major attractions; the room was large and well appointed; the breakfast that was included in the tariff was fresh, varied, plentiful and included lots of local produce; the common areas of the Hotel were luxurious and well maintained; staff were helpful with restaurant recommendations and assisting with other queries.
We were very impressed with Hotel L'Orologio and would highly recommend this Hotel.

At the present, our room is scorching HOT! We've called management and they've been in room. They offered to move us to a smaller room, but said it would take a long time to cool down. 10:42 pm 24 C.

Great location, great breakfast and awesome rooms. The staff was wonderful and made Florence even more better. There is a small bar perfect for post day touring with a small menu and snacks. Rooms were spacious - bathroom was huge with rainfall shower.

We booked a six night stay at the L'Orologio on the recommendation of our travel agent - who obviously knows our taste very well!

We arrived at the hotel before "normal" check in time and were advised that we couldn't check in to our room, which had been upgraded, until 2pm but were able to do the "paperwork" and leave our bags before going out for lunch. When we returned a while later we were given our keys straight away, along with information about the room and recommendations for places to eat in the area. Our luggage was bought up to the room within minutes of us checking in.

Each floor in the hotel is named after a different watch manufacturer and the rooms are named after specific watches. Our twin bedded room, which was on the Patek Phillippe floor, was called "2481 The Jungle", with pictures of the watch and it's workings on the wall. The room was very nicely furnished and had two large windows which overlooked the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with the church at the far end. The bathroom was spacious and equipped with a bath and rain shower - we also had towelling robes and slippers. The beds were really comfortable and we both slept well. One nice touch about the rooms is that the hotel provides a turn down service, with a sweet being left for each occupant along with a weather forecast for the next day and suggestions for something to do and somewhere to eat.

Breakfast is served in a room on the 4th floor with windows along one side giving a view of the Piazza and the church. It is quite a small room but we were able to get window seats on all but one of the days we were there. Breakfast is a buffet with hot and cold items, plenty of fresh breads and juices - with a choice of "American" coffee or individually made cappuccinos, lattes or espressos.

We also made use of the bar in the evenings and the service was excellent. The hotel provides a range of snacks and residents are invited to help themselves. We usually ended the evening having a coffee (with hot milk being served in silver jugs!) and a liqueur. Our only complaint is that the menu for the bar didn't have much that interested us on the night we decided to eat in the hotel - but that's a personal choice issue and what we did eat was very nice.

We made use of the laundry twice during our stay - mainly as the weather wasn't as nice as we'd hoped and we needed to keep wearing our warmer clothes. We used the next day service but both times our laundry was back before we expected it - once with our t-shirts wrapped in a paper parcel and the other time with ll the items in a basket.

All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. My sister uses an ice pack to keep medicine cold while travelling and we often have problems getting it frozen the night before we leave. There was no problem this time.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better. It is about 5-10 minutes from the main station - the pick up point for tours and the Hop on, hop off buses. It only took us about 10 minutes to walk to the Duomo and another few minutes to get to Piazza della Signoria. If we decide to return to Florence (which is a distinct possibility) I'd like to return to the L'Orlogio - but put in a request for better weather!

Great location, nice size room (even though we only booked a standard double), the staff are all charming and helpful. Breakfast is a good selection and in a lovely room over looking the square. Would definitely use again.
