We had lunch at Sartu on a Friday in August. It is located on the street leading to the main Piazza, just down some stairs (the sign is on a music stand in the street). The Chef seated us and helped us decide on a wine before handing us over to the server. The Chef is amazing and prepares everything fresh all by herself! She's from Naples and her cooking is influenced by this, which is another reason why you should come here. We started with bean soups (one lentil topped with crispy bacon and one cannellini topped with shrimp), which were excellent, followed by pastas which were recognizable (we had 2 different raviolis) but just different enough to be unique and exciting. She also has what looks to be delicious meat options, but we were in the mood for soup and pasta. Dessert was amazing and I'm glad we each ordered our own, because I did not want to share!! I highly recommend this restaurant!

We stumbled across Sartu and were so glad we did. A small restaurant tucked down an alleyway off the main tourist road. Small, romantic with attention to detail. An interesting menu with well executed local specialities. Meat dishes were excellent. My husband's steak in a balsamic glazed sauce was melt in your mouth. Friendly welcoming service.

We were staying in Tuscany and did a day trip to Cortona which was suggested by several friends. What a beautiful day it was, even though it was our only cloudy day during our week stay in Tuscany it was certainly a day to remember. Cortona is a walled city perched high on a hill. It is a bit like San Gimignano but we thought nicer as a bit less busy and touristy. We stumbled across a quaint little restaurant as the lovely young Viola was setting up, called Sartu. We were the only people here which made us feel special. The owner and chef Liliana introduced herself and we were given the royal treatment it felt. Our food was delicious and our service impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant which is tucked down a narrow steep lane heading down hill. Liliana said as we were leaving “I don’t know why you are here but I’m very grateful “

While staying in Cortona for 2 weeks we located this restaurant from Trip Advisor reviews.
So impressed with absolutely every course presented by Chef Lilliana and her wait staff Roberto and Viola we made it a must to return a second night--making it our special last dinner before returning home.
Appetizer to dessert--you can not be disappointed in anything--even the graciousness of the Lilliana makes it an additionally special place to dine.

Had a wonderful lunch in this hidden gem. Very romantic in the laneway. We were treated to an appertif free of charge and the service was amazing. The food speaks for itself in the photo below.
