Great views, transparent water and possibility to find a really lonely place even on weekend. Just continue walking or riding further, do not stop at first crowded spots. Grab some street food and cold drinks there from vans and continue walking. You wont find sand beaches so be prepared to jump from stone to stone to reach water. Comfortable shoes and a soft rug could be a great idea. And take your snorkling set with you! :)

We took a small boat trip from the old Harbour beyond the Torre Hôtel - to go to Isla delle Femine, Women's Island and Grotto d'Olio. Both snorkeling and diving options with qualified, knowledgeable staff- good coffee and croissants for break - and fabulous views. They can also take you snorkeling around Formica Island.

Not obvious to find but it's worthy. The reserve is on the north end of Mondello, the street leads to the Torre hotel and beyond that, there is a road that leads to a yatch club at the foot of impressive rocky cliffs. That's the start of the reserve. The concrete path goes all around the point, and remains at the bottom of the cliffs, climbing a little up to a lighthouse. Then a path continues a bit to end at the most north-western point of Sicily. About 1 hour walk there from the start. Wonderful views of the sea/bay of Mondello and of Palermo in the distance.

The road to the lighthouse (Faro) is only 2 km long but it gives you a chance to see the wildlife of the island. Feel the heat of the day, listen to the goats voices and their bells ringing and enjoy the changable beauty of the mountain -on one side and the sea - on the other side. When the road turns into the lane, keep walking and you will see the grass reminding the velvet. If you are looking for the lonely beaches - it is also a chance to swim without crowds.
