Max the owner is very pleasant and easy going. We didn't need to contact him for anything serious during our stay, just once for help finding an adaptor for the socket for the washing machine plug when he texted us back straight away to say where it was. He was away on business when we were arriving but had a cheerful, helpful and efficient friend ready to give us assistance when we got to the apartment. They gave us all the information we needed on the facilities in the apartment, the local area and how to get to the centre of town etc. There are also plenty of guides and brochures on the tourist hotspots in the apartment in case you haven't brought a book. The apartment is simply but tastefully furnished and decorated and everything works well. We found the mattress very comfortable indeed and slept well every night for the eleven nights we stayed, the kitchen has every utensil you could need and plenty of crockery, but we didn't use much because we liked eating out a lot. Towards the end of our stay Max came by to say hello to us, he did ring ahead to see if we were free and we chatted about anything and everything for an hour. We would definitely stay here again
This apartment is really ideally situated in a street next to the marvellous Castello Ursino. It is right near a square which becomes very lively in the evening and which also has quite a few of places to eat and relax. It's quite a small and friendly neighbourhood which quickly feels like home.
By day it's a beautiful place to relax, with plenty of bench seating around the castle. On a corner of a street near the Castle, with Trattoria Antonio to the right and opposite a good local wine merchant is a nice place to sit and have drinks. We did this a couple of times as for some reason there's always a nice breeze there when the heat is a bit much. Well into the evening in the small park in front of the castle you can see people enjoying themselves, it was an all round pleasant experience.
