During our recent cruise that included a too-brief stop in Catania, Sicily, we went sightseeing in this interesting city and through happenstance, chose the Royal Ceres Café (San Giuseppe at Duomo) for lunch. The Royal Ceres features fresh seafood and local favorites as well as some seafood that is probably frozen. My husband chose to have fresh fish sold by the kilo. Our waiter escorted my husband to display case to select his fish and the cooking method. Minutes later the cooked fish was filleted at our table. Meanwhile I ate Pasta alla Norma, a traditional Sicilian dish with eggplant and ricotta. Both our entrees were delicious, the café is definitely not touristy (the decor is British pub), and we enjoyed the experience. (plus the restrooms were clean.)
