Very nice hotel. Modern, clean, great staff very helpful. Room was quite spacious! They can organize excursions for you. The pool is small but nice. Recommending it! A bit far from city center though.

We stayed here as it seemed the most beautiful and best value for money in Catania which it definitely is.

The hotel itself is gorgeous, the pool area is lovely and private to relax. Staff all so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, lots of fresh pastries, fruit, yogurts, cereals and some hot food too.
The restaurants other menu is limited but great for a snack as not many places near the hotel to walk to for food.
The room was great, huge bed, very clean and lovely bathroom with a great shower. Only problem here was that we didn't get the room we booked but it was still very nice. Great touch having a free non alcoholic mini bar too - nice to come back to a cold coke or water with some choccy!
Another slight downside was our rooms situation - on the ground floor right next to the entrance to the car park and loud electric gate, also close enough to reception to hear their phone ringing and the hall echoed loudly with people walking around which wasn't ideal but luckily we were up early most days exploring. If you want to relax ask for a room on a higher floor at the back overlooking the pool area.

Free parking on site, in an underground secure car park is handy for your hire car. 20 minute drive from the airport, about 2 hours on a bus as their public transport isn't reliable! so get a taxi if you haven't a hire car (about 30-35 euros)

The area outside the hotel is not ideal, run down houses, cars, lots of rubbish everywhere. Not a touristy place at all here or in the centre. 20 mins walk to the nearest shop, big supermarket and felt a little on edge walking there as it's on a busy main road.
It's 45 mins walk to the main square of Catania (fast walking pace) but things to do along the way to break up the walk (giardini bellini). Also worth it as the hotel is amazing, somewhere you can relax outside of the hustle and bustle.

The most important thing to realise here is its not touristy at all, I visited with a female friend and we got stared at by everyone during most of our time here - it makes you feel on edge being surrounded by this and the rougher areas but we had no problems at all. It didn't help we were in shorts (it was 22 degrees!) and everyone else in trousers and big coats, a lot of local people here more than anything. But the day after spent in trousers wasn't much different. I don't say this to put you off as we loved it, just so you're aware of it.

If you get a car while here don't miss a day trip to Syracuse, Ortigia island (55 mins south of hotel) and also Taromina (45 mins north of hotel) which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!

Overall this hotel is amazing, definitely the best place to stay in Catania

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool area

Airone City Hotel is a diamond in the rough. Beautiful grounds, and the cleanest hotel on the island. The room including bathroom is overly spacious and clean. The front desk and kitchen staff are very kind, and willing to help make your stay as comfortable as possible. They called and ordered a pizza to be delivered for us after a long day of travel. The kitchen made us a HUGE fresh salad to go with the pizza, and the included breakfast was fresh, with many cakes and pastries. It is not in the city, but very east to find and very accessible to the motorway.

Room Tip: We had room 213, on the corner. Did not hear any other guests, and two windows looked over the peaceful garden and pool.

The hotel itself was gourgeous. Nice staff. A very big, delicate room. Good beds. Nice poolarea. Good breakfast and excellent coffee!!! Extra pluss for free alcoholfree minibar and parking. Childfriendly (teenagers). The surroundings was a bit strange, with abandoned houses/shops.
