This hotel is reasonably good on the whole but not very good at communicating with British guests, but there is a massive problem if you book with Thomson as they are barred from the property and there is no service from them at this hotel whatsoever. If you encounter any problems, as we did, you will get no help from Thomson. Before we arrived we asked them about reports already posted on trip advisor about this and they denied there was any problem, this was a total lie but you won't find this out until too late e.g. when you are on the coach to the hotel!

Dear melkart2016,

I would like to thank you for choosing Hotel Corte Rosada.

Not very good at communicating with British guests?????? If Thomson decided to not communicate with their guests it is not our fault.

Our Customer Service is always very attentive and thoughtful with all guests (including Thomson) and we don't drop them to themselves. 24 hours per day!

This is the reason we always recommend to book directly with the hotels. Certainly they will never leave you.

Best Regards.

My wife and I have just returned from this hotel after spending a week here booking with Thomsons.
The hotel and Thomsons are in dispute over something. They would not say what.

We and thirteen other Thomson travelers arrived at 11 am on Saturday 4th June. We were told our rooms weren't ready and to use the hotel facilities. I returned to reception at noon to ask if the room was ready to be told check in time is 3 pm and to come back then. I returned at 2 am and was told the room was now ready. No hospitality was offered whilst we waited.

We all waited the next day for our Thomson's rep. He did not turn up. The next time we saw anyone from Thomsons was when we returned to the airport. Despite telephone calls and emails from all the Thomsons guests no one from Thomsons made any effort to get in touch. Some guests did get to the Thomsons office in Alghero to be told Thomsons were banned from the hotel.

That's the bad news for Thomson's travelers. The good news is that the hotel is lovely. The food at all meal times is of an excellent quality. The staff are very helpful, polite and speak English.
The hotel is in a gorgeous setting and if the sea is not your thing they have lovely pool.
The down side is that it is a bit remote and if you do not have a car the only option is the local bus which is frequent and reasonably priced at 2.5 euros for all day travel. They let you get on the bus and then you buy tickets in the town. Since we did not have any support from Thomsons this is the position we found ourselves in.
The tourist bus is double the cost and far less frequent. You buy ticket for that at the hotel.

So we traveled to Alghero every day. There are boat trips and bus trips around the bay to the local caves. Also the old town is very pretty with lots of shops and churches. There's enough to do for three days tops, not a week.

It is not like a conventional hotel in that the rooms are in blocks of eight, four terrace and four balcony. Four blocks of eight surround a square area which has mature pine trees growing on it. So basically the whole hotel is in a woods with its animal and bird wildlife. We liked it as the room was cool without the need of the aircon.

Down sides to the hotel is as mentioned already the buffet on a Saturday night if there's a wedding. It's not very good as far as British tastes are concerned. Also get there early as the southern European guests are like a pack of wild dogs. If you can eat somewhere else that night, do so or get there early.
Our room could have done with a bit of modernisation and new bed covers. Also if you have neighbour with a weak bladder you will here them use the toilet in the night. Although the walls don't seem that thin the sound must just resonate through the bathroom fittings.

Room tip: Some rooms overlook the car park so ask not to have one of these.

This hotel is located in a stunning location and the rooms are fine. The personnel is attentive and takes care of the clients but prices of drinks and foods are TOO EXPENSIVE and completely bot in relation with the quality. This is a true rip off and making a great stay in to a dissapointment. Skip the hotel and a little advice to the managment, get your act together!

We arrived at Corte Rosada after spending a week in a perfect hotel on the Costa Smeralda. Upon arrival in the car park there was a wedding going on. There was drunk guests around the reception area. The staff at reception took some time to look up to acknowledge we were stood there waiting to check in. We were taken to our room and not offered assistance with our bags (unlike our 1st hotel). There was 3 of us me my 9 year old son and my mum. We have 2 twin room interconnecting. One of them with a pool and beach view. Nice setting. We were staying on half board and on the first night we were told we had to eat upstairs due to the wedding. The room upstairs was fine. However, the buffet was very poor. It was crowded, I felt like I was in a cattle market scrambling for food with all the others and the only food on main, was quite poor. PIGS EARS!!!! . The wedding party seem to take over the hotel and I felt like a second rate guest. We ate out the second night. However, we found out that the proper menu was al la carte. After this we ate in every evening and to be honest the food was very good. The staff was friendly enough and good service. The setting was stunning, overlooking some lovely gardens and directly onto the beach. The evenings were lovely watching the sunset over the mountains. The hotel was very clean the room was clean, the bathroom was good, fresh towels everyday. There we no bath robes though, which would have been good. The pool and setting was lovely. The only reason I only give this 4 star instead of 5 ;-

Weddings at hotel seem to take priority hence quality of service goes down for hotel guests.

No bath robes in room ( maybe hiring these at a cost would be a good option).

Other than that a perfect stay.

Room tip: Rooms at back of complex , ie if wedding it could be noisy

Last year September when we were in Alghero we already knew we would come back, so we started to look aroind to find a nice spot to stay for a week. We always likeo ride our racing bikes, so a bike friendly environment is important. When we found this hotel, we right away liked the atmosphere, and we decided to book a week.
We were not disappointed! I read in several reviews that people found the room somewhat small, we don't agree. It's big enough and well equipped. We could store our bikes in the hotel bike rental, so that was nice. We did not take half board, because we like to eat out in different places. Breakfast is good, not excellent, but good. Staff is super friendly.
The pool is very very nice since it has salted sea water, so much nicer than chlorine.
The hotel provides beach towels, they always take up so much space in your luggage so that is very nice too.
All rooms are the same and have the same price, the only difference is that you have ground floor and first floor rooms. You also have the possibility to connect 2 rooms. This means there is some noise that you hear from the neighbours, but that was not too loud or annoying. Of course we were not there in high season so I don't know how t is in July or August.
