We went to Verona for one day only and we chose to have our lunch at Osteria Macafame, which was a great choice because the risotto we had here was unforgettable! In Verona they are famous for their rice and risotto so we just had to try. As always with risotto you have to order minimum for two people. We usually try to take different dishes with my husband so we can try more things but at the end we were so happy that we decided to go with Risotto all’Amarone. It was perfectly creamy and perfectly al dente! Very well balanced taste. The portions were very generous. When the plate arrives you think it’s a good but not so big portion but when you start eating you realize that the plate is quite deep. I took to try typical local red wine of Verona - Valpolicella - and it went ideally together (no wonder- the risotto itself is made with Amarone della Valpolicella). Then we shared Tagliata di cavallo all’Amarone (horse steak with wine sauce), it comes with roasted potatoes on the side. We asked it medium rare. It was big and very tender. Very good. Was our second time trying horse meat and it didn’t disappoint. For the dessert we tried sbrisolona with maraschino. The prices are super honest. Service is super nice (our waitress was extremely sweet). Wonderful experience in general.
