The hotel is just off the corner of Piazza Erbe, the ancient Roman forum of Verona, and still the heart of the city. The entrance to the Gabbia d’Oro is in Corso Porta Borsari, the ancient Via Postumia. The hotel recommended a restaurant for dinner that was halfway down the block and down a back alley. It was a perfect spot.
We have to take a video of this hotel to do it justice....it's in the old town with 27 rooms...just feet from the bustling main square, yet when you enter the lobby it's a tranquil oasis! The pubic areas are eclectically decorated in all vibrant colors...red, yellow...white! It is beautiful! As we were strolling from room to room I heard whistling...constantly...couldn't figure it out...then I saw them...2 magnificent birds...they don't look like parrots..more like oversized parakeets...my new best friends...I whistle they respond..so adorable...their names are Romeo and Juliet...of course! Our room has a canopied bed with angel holding up canopy and sitting area... just lovely.More
