We stayed at the hotel for an extended weekend in June, the staff were fun and loved to interact with the guests. They lacked some English knowledge but we had no problems understanding each other.
The rooms were reasonably sized, and clean. Beds were large but a bit hard. We did however not have any problems sleeping there.
You can expect some noise in the mornings when the city workers empty the bins, especially when they empty the glass bins. People in Italy tend to drink some wine.

Breakfast was really good, we had expected to just get biscuits and coffee, but they had eggs, rolls, croissants and fantastic coffee.

The hotels location close to Arena di Verona made it ideal for going to the opera there, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from near by.

We would definitely use this hotel if we go back to Verona. The two ladies that run the hotel and their staff made us feel really welcome.

Room Tip: Visit the restaurant connected to the hotel. Good food and good service.

We loved our stay at Torcolo. Location can't be beat, and the rooms were very comfortable. The best part was Caterina who was a font of information and help. Her English was perfect and she couldn't have been friendlier. Breakfast was out front, suffered from being on a busy street but was adequate. The entrance area was small, but it had everything needed.

This hotel was recommended to us, but I don't think I would pass on that recommendation. When we checked in, we got the feeling that our room had been given away to other guests, as our name was listed but we were not given the room allocated. We were then offered the choice of two other rooms. We took the first, as the second overlooked the garbage bins. The room was, fairly small, clean, but the furniture, especially the wardrobe, was in need of replacement. There was a lot of noise from the street, as the window in the bathroom was not double glazed, and even with the bathroom door closed, the noise travelled. Breakfast was just adequate. The owners were very friendly and offered lots of advice.

If you are looking for a two star hotel very close to Piazza Bra', then this may be for you. If you require a bit more comfort, try somewhere else.

After 30+ years of visiting Verona I finally broke with brand-loyalty and tried the Torcolo. The welcome was warm beyond description and the hotel, cute as a button, is a good and honest place without pretending to be something it is not.
My room was spacious, immaculately clean and had a very comfortable, and for European standards very large bed. The bathroom was just that, a very functional bathroom with everything one would expect.
The hotel staff were the kindest and most helpful I have ever encountered. From the ladies staffing the front desk in the morning, who took the time to point me to a watch-maker for a battery replacement, to the ladies who staff the desk in the afternoon who never failed to make me laugh with their infectious joie de vivre and approach to all things hotel.
They managed to get me into a restaurant before an opera performance in the Arena (no mean feat) and generally bustled about with bottles of ice cold water when I staggered in drenched because of the heatwave.
In all, the place is pretty priceless.
I read in some reviews that people rated the Torcolo down because of noise. I agree, there is noise. It is a city center hotel. The streets are slightly wider than a car and noise travels. The garbage trucks are out early. It's a fact of life. The hotel's fault? No. The neighbouring restaurants fill their bottle banks whenever they need to. The hotel's fault? No. On my first night there there were the usual 'tired and emotional' British ladies shrieking on the tops of their voices as they would in London. The hotel's fault? No.
The hotel is a gem and cannot be praised enough. If chandeliers, deep pile carpets, snooty staff (who forget that you're a paying guest and not an inconvenience) and squishy sofas are your thing then the Torcolo is not for you. This is a down to earth place in an ancient building, kitted out with quirky furniture and with people who care.
I would recommend it unreservedly.
Oh, btw - the Arena is a 1 minute walk away which means that when the opera is finished, usually well after 1 a.m. it's a 1 minute walk back ..... go figure.

We used this as a stop over after flying into Milan, on our way to Venice. Nice little hotel, nice people, and Verona was just enough of a stop for a first day in country.
