We really loved this hotel. The location was so convenient just two minutes to Rialto and 10 minutes to St Mark's. Easy to reach from the airport by Alilaguna [orange], so no need for exorbitant water taxi.
The hotel is very recently modernised, everything works perfectly and it is perfect for holidays since there are few facilities for business-people. Booking with Citalia the price was fantastic value.

We went to Venice for a birthday celebration and stayed 3 nights here. The hotel was well positioned very near to Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Sq, the room decor was beautiful and scrupulously clean and the bathroom was superb, again immaculate. Staff were friendly and my husband's birthday cards were noted and resulted in a card and biscuits from the management - a nice touch!

Great hotel in the heart of Venice, near Rialto. Close to water-taxi stop. Wonderful roof terrace for those hot summer days, but closed in February. Clean and nice rooms, looking exactly like the ones at their website. Very friendly staff. Ok breakfast. So why only 4 out of 5? They charge 8 € pr. hour for access to wifi, which is free on most hotels these days. Not worthy a 4 star hotel! If you do not need or want a wifi-connection, there are nothing negative about this hotel!

A lovely, tasteful hotel in a great location. Close to tourist attractions (easy walking distance), but far enough away from the crowds. Public transportation is very easily accessed. Staff is very helpful and courteous, anxious to please their guests. Every area of the hotel is immaculate and beautifully decorated. A wonderful breakfast buffet served in a bright, pretty dining room. The price is on a par with other hotels that appeared to be of lesser quality.

Having spent many hours reviewing hotels in Venice on the Tripadvisor site, we decided on Hotel La Commedia for our family visit in December. We were not disappointed. We had previously arranged a private water taxi from the airport and were dropped off at a jetty not far from the Rialto Bridge. The hotel was between 50 - 100 metres from the jetty and also very close to many lovely shops, including the only Department store in Venice and lots of cafes and restaurants. All of the staff were very courteous, pleasant and very helpful with our numerous queries. The rooms were clean, beautifully furnished, well maintained and (very importantly) nice and warm as the weather was cold for the duration of our stay and snowed in the middle of our visit). Judging from the dining room at breakfast time, the hotel was pleasantly busy during our stay. Only one morning we had to wait for a table for four, but that was down to selfish couples sitting at tables for 4 as there were spare tables for 2. I see from some previous reviews that some people weren't happy that cooked breakfast was an additional cost, but the buffet was more than enough for each of us in our party (various cold meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, fresh fruits, rolls, croissants and a nice (but very sweet) almond tart. Whilst there were only 2 waiting staff, they made a good job of replenishing teas, coffees and the buffet itself. By the second day we had acquainted ourselves of the San Marco area and, whilst distances seemed further on the map, it was only taking us around 7 minutes to get from the hotel to St Mark's Square if we were running late for dinner, but longer on the way back when window shopping in preparation for the shopping expedition the next day! On our departure we could have taken the Vaporetto to the airport but decided to take the water taxi again. The hotel booked it for us and it picked us up from the Vaporetto stop as the jetty was still very snowed up. It was more than 30 years since I had last been to Venice and I can't wait to go back again. When I return I certainly plan to stay at La Commedia again.
