The hotel is a few steps from the Rialto Bridge and a ten minutes walk brings you to S. Marco square. Location and building are excellent. Our room, albeit a little small, was very very comfortable, bathroom was clean and big. We also had a terrace with two chairs and a table. Overall we are very pleased with the accomodation. Staff was extremely corteous, both checking in and checking out. We were welcomed very warmly and found a complimentary bottle of prosecco in our room. Breakfast was good, but not the best. Wifi is available but not included, which is kind of a shame, given the high rate we were charged for the room. All in all, a great hotel with a great service and staff. Highly recommended.

After a less than desirable evening in another hotel in Venice, we were lucky to find two nights available at Hotel a La Commedia (found via an expedia search) at a reasonable rate. We arrived tired and slightly disillusioned with the city however this quickly changed thanks to the friendly, efficient, professional service from the greeting concierge/reception gentleman. Although we were early (having wanted to leave our previous hotel asap), we were informed that the room was ready and furthermore, had been ungraded to a junior suite! We were escorted to our room and luggage was quickly sent up with a friendly porter. The room was spacious with a balcony large enough for an outdoor setting, the bathroom was also large and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and an indoor dining setting in addition to armchair made the room extremely comfortable. The concierge further proved his worth with excellent restaurant and transport recommendations. The Hotel seems to be quite small (no restaurant/room service, a small bar) however it punches above its weight in certain ways such as the room appointments and amenities and certainly the service provided by staff and is exceptional value for money. The hotel's location is excellent, around the corner from Rialto bridge and numerous restaurants and sights including the markets. Although the area is quite busy during the day and early evening, the rooms are completely soundproofed and air conditioning is extremely efficient.

Okay, Venice is expensive---get over it!!!! It is also amazing--nothing like it!!! This hotel is in a great location 10 min from almost anything. We can't say enough about the exceptional service of the Hotel---especially the front desk---make sure you ask for Andrea or Lorenzo as they will make your stay perfect. Our room was larger than we expected with a sitting area and a balcony. (3rd floor). We were very pleased with all aspects of the room. Since Venice is a walking town and outside below was an outdoor cafe we could hear people from time to time at night but no big deal. The breakfast was included and delicious.

While we were visiting Italy decided to have a train STRIKE the day we were scheduled to take the train to St. Moritz, Switzerland. It was a must for us to be in St. Moritz the following morning. It was an all day train ride with three transfers to St. Mortiz. There were no rental cars in Venice, and the front desk spent well over an hour with us finding alternate avenues. They were able to secure us a limo service to take us to St. Mortiz---which is a 4.5 - 5 hour drive. Without their persistents and help our plans would have been runied and the rest of our vacation in doubt.

When it was time to take the water taxi they actually took our luggage to the taxi which was quite unexpected. Bottom line: the service is beyond exceptional.

Friends had recommended Hotel a la Commedia and we are glad they did---you will be too!

Four of us just spent a 3 day break in Venice staying at the La Commedia and we couldn't fault it. We had the standard rooms which were an excellent size and in very good decorative order, with lovely modern bathrooms (not always the case in Italy!) The staff were so helpful and easy to deal with. The breakfast was terrific and included in the price which was excellent value. The location was wonderful, just off the Grand Canal by the Rialto bridge and about 10 minutes to St Marks Square if you don't get lost!
I would totally recommend this hotel for location, value and standards. Much better than many of the so called smarter hotels like the Danieli and the Gritti Palace.

Room Tip: standard rooms were very good and so not worth spending more on an upgrade

Stayed here at the end of August with family, staff kind but not speaking a decent English, rooms enough comfortable but we found out there was an annoying smell from the tube so we complained and the hotel manager offered us a room upgrade the very next day...but it never happened because there was not availability so we got any money refund nor any other compensation...very negative experience

Room Tip: Be sure to get what you pay for!
