A great place to have a coffee and a croissant or pastry before starting out your long day of walking the streets of beautiful Venice. You can sit inside or outside . The servers speak good English.

So, a weary traveller seeking a little breakfast "home cooking" came upon this wonderful place and had a great plate of bacon and (scrambled) eggs with "Americans" coffee.

It's dawn again, and the cafe latte I need to help with the jet lag is out there. At Al133. Best place to start my day.

Just 50 meters away from our canal-side rented flat is a small, quiet, hole-in-the-wall outlet for caffeine and pastry that every early morning should be blessed with. The place where I re-discovered Italian coffee and desserts!!! Lotsa reading time early each quiet morning outside the little place... People watching as the trickle of early-morning commuters grows. Fashionable; purposeful...but much more at ease doing this than we Canadians…They all stride along the canalside to get the vaporetti (the water taxis and water buses here).

The street cleaners in their lime-green-and -green coveralls gather for their early morning espressos. Several sport gelled pomades shining blue, or puce (!), in the early morning sunlight. Crowding loudly through the door beside me into this tiny place, with its lovely proprietor. Chatting her up. Age no barrier to animated conversation between the handsome older female proprietor and the groovy young studs.

After several café lattes, reading and dozing time. Attentive servers bring me more food...some wonderful eggs. More reading. More cleaners arrive, this time, the Orange Brigade. So…more pastry. More café latte. Time to go home to the flat for a nap.

Tutti bene!

Found this bar not far from our hotel in Santa Croce. The Prosecco came with a bowl of chips. Very friendly service, great place for a drink.
