Unbelievably helpful staff! Front desk staff, breakfast room attendant, and maid service (very fast and neat) all very friendly and more than willing to help with anything we needed. Gave us directions, recommended restaurants that were all outstanding.

Room Tip: Call ahead to get a canal view room. Wifi in lobby only and not very fast.

And at a very reasonable rate, we payed 82€ per night, breakfast included.
First off, Hotel Giudecca is situated on the island of Giudecca, which is separated from the San Marco and city center areas by a broad canal. This implies that you have to take the local water bus, the vaporetto's, to get to San Marco, the Rialto bridge and the other sights. But from Giudecca, you have a magnificent view of the city, especially just before sunset the view is grand.
The vaporetto's are the best and most convenient way to visit Venice, without having to take the (rather expensive) boat taxis. We payed 40€ per person for unlimited travel during 3 full days. Taking the boat to get to San Marco from Giudecca only takes about 6 minutes. And we took the boat to visit the glass manufactures on the island of Murano, which was included in the 40€!
The hotel room we stayed in, had views on the canals, but we enjoyed a spontaneous and complimentary upgrade from the standard room which doesn't have the view. The 24 hour staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. In the late evenings, when returning from our meanderings through Venice, we enjoyed a glass of Veneto wine while preparing for the night.
The room had a very large double bed, a small desk, a small seating area and it was immaculately clean. And it had a en suite bathroom. Shower room would be more accurate, there was no bath... And for big and or large people, be aware that the shower is not big, it is rather tight even, albeit sufficient.
Breakfast was nothing special, but if you like chocolate croissants, they have them! And some fresh fruit, yoghurt, jams, cheese, cereals and some (industrial) juices. It is served in a sort of veranda. Be warned, the coffee from the machine is not good ('understatement of the day'), but you can order fresh coffee or cappuccino from the waitress. Which is included in the breakfast price.
One drawback : there is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby of the hotel. But it is free.

All in all, for us, the Hotel Domenica Giudecca is a Hotel we would return to on our next visit to Venezia and would recommend to any Venice visitor on a budget conscious visit!

Room Tip: But Wifi is only available in the lobby!

If you enjoy living in the 21st century then do not visit this hotel! Amongst the essentials in life are a shower and wifi and we had neither. On our first morning I took a shower and was scalded as the temperature changed rapidly. I asked the receptionist and she said that there was a fault and confirmed that other people had complained. I asked the next day and the next day and nothing changed for the entire week of our stay. We timed it and could stand under the shower safely for 30 seconds before having to step out of the way or be scalded. After a days walking its a joy to stand under a shower and relax and rejuvenate but not this one. It was a nightmare trying to wash, especially my hair as I had to keep diving out of the way of the water.
The wifi is free but you have to join the other residents in the foyer to enjoy it.
Once one thing is wrong I'm afraid that other things tend to irritate you too so here are a few more things: the room was cleaned every day but on the few occasions we had taken a drink back to our room, the bottles were not cleared away by the cleaners. We had no view at all, just a wall to look at so in the morning you couldn't tell if it was sunny or cloudy. I ordered a cup of tea one evening and was given a packet of powdered milk which wasn't ideal. Surely it wouldn't have been much of an effort to get me some fresh milk.
The area of Guidecca is very good for visiting Venice. Its only a short ride away to the centre of Venice and in itself has some reasons to visit. The Hilton Skybar is on Guidecca and is a real treat on a clear night. The views and lights over Venice are spectacular. The bakery and restaurant Majer has lovely coffee and delights for breakfast and lovely food in the evening. After a busy day in Venice we found that we could happily stay in Guidecca although the bars and restaurants close very early.

Thank you very very much to all the staff at the Hotel Domina who were so helpful with advice on getting the lost passport back! Great directions to Museums and which good local restaurants to eat in. Our room was perfect so peaceful and clean. A haven to come back to every day after busy days sight seeing in Venice. Thank you all! We will certainly recommend your hotel to friends.Staying on Giudecca is great and the hotel is close to the boat stop Palanca so easy to arrive and leave.

Room Tip: Room with a view of the small canal lovely

Well I have to admit that the staff gave the hotel 3 stars, otherwise personally I would not even consider going back there. Heating problems and water running problems were everlasting. It was a weekend stay during the Carnival but they still made me wanna go home and take a proper shower :)
And in this day and age, the wifi was terrible.
Anyways the stuff made the only positive impression ...
