The Locanda Orseolo had popped up on several lists such as Conde Nast when I was looking for places to stay in Venice. The more I read on Trip Advisor, the more we wanted to stay at this small B&B. We were not disappointed. The location is right off St. Mark's Square - or right off a canal if you arrive by water taxi through their window entrance. Enchanting, I promise!
The hosts are just remarkably hospitable and knew everyone by name when we came in and out. They are more than willing to help with any questions about things to do, restaurants, etc. I even received a two page summary of restaurants they recommended before we left the US.
They have a small, cozy relaxing area with free use of their computer. This was such a nice treat after having to pay 5 euros an hour to use the internet in the other places we stayed in Italy.
The breakfast is unequalled as they have a lovely buffet set out and then will cook omelets, eggs, or crepes to order. It was a great way to start the day in a remarkable city.
The room we stayed in was very small, and we originally had requested another room, however, when we heard back from Igor last August there was only one room left! It was quite nice with all the amenities one would need and overlooked the canal. If you do want a large room, however, make sure you request it.
Many thanks to Alex, Barbara, Igor, and Gigi for helping make our Venice trip unforgettable!

Wow! Arrived in a water taxi and climbed through a large stained glass window to a fantasy land of comfort. We could have gone through the courtyard but this was a much better way to arrive! We were greeted and offered cappuccinos or tea (it was cold out) and they already had information for us on our appointments for our costume fittings (we were there for Carnivale'). We were always greeted by name and were made to feel relaxed. The hotel has a great location. It is in a gated courtyard (shared with- I think a home because of the drying clothes on the line) off of St. Marks Square. It is easy to get around and Alex and the rest of the staff were very helpful and informative on any type of information we needed. The hotel was tastefully decorated in Venician style and the rooms each had a theme from Venice. Ours was on Jacamo Casanova! Each afternoon there would be tea and chocolates placed in our room. The breakfasts were quite a spread with lots of choices in a charming room on the water. On top of that, they would make whatever you would like. The food was wonderful, and the presentation beautiful. I've been to Venice numerous times, stayed at much more expensive places, but nothing as wonderful or as memorable as the Locanda Orseola.

The hotel itself is thoroughly charming - it really is exactly as the pictures illustrate - and is superbly located in a peaceful , gated coutyard within a couple of minutes of St Marks Sq . Gondolas drift past the windows of the breakfast room and small lounge area which adds to the relaxing atmosphere .
The stars of the show , though , are the people . The whole team were unfailing kind and considerate to us . I cannot speak highly enough of the help and advice so generously and enthusiastically given . They clearly take enormous pride in their hotel and city and want visitors to enjoy both the maximum . Just like visting old friends really ! Thank you - we could not have been made to feel more welcome .

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms will be quiet and peaceful whilst those on the canal side have gondolas going past regularly and more of bustling Venice life passing by on the pathway and bridges on the opposite side of the canal .

This hotel was fantastic. It was charming and decorated so pretty but very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and they all knew us by name. The breakfast was really good and we enjoyed our stay here very much. It is very close to Saint Mark's square and a 10 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge. Highly recommend you stay here!
