Father Joseph runs a wonderful set of rooms here in this old Venetian monastery
Every time we come here he takes us into the inner sanctum and behind the scenes of Venice
The rooms have been renovated and you are surrounded by Tintoretto and beautiful paintings and antiques
The monastery is a little away from the main hub which makes it a perfect spot to feel you are truly part of the Venetian community
The church is very historic and beautiful and is just next door so it's fabulous to be staying so close to such an historic part of Venice
The rooms are very clean and spacious as well and we feel very at home with father Joseph who welcomes us like family

Came upon this by chance. Large group of paintings by Tintoretto. Very powerful expression of the human body, as well as the mythical themes of Christianity.

Jacopo Tintoretto should be enough to visit. His grave but more important a few works including Last Judgement and Adoration of the Golden Calf. There is also Domenico Tintoretto (Jacopo’s son), Tizian, Conegliano, Bellini was stolen ... This went to the book of D. Leon with Comissario Brunetti.
Contarini Chapel reminds the owner of the huge Cardinal’s palace at the end of the Fondamenta Contarini.
The name went from St Christopher to Madonna del Orto (vegetable garden). Read the explanation on information sheets that can be borrowed.

This church is close to the Orto vaporetto stop in a quiet area of Venice, about a 20 minute walk away from St. Mark's Square . You won't find many tourists here, but you will find a beautiful old church filled with history and lovely works of art.
