We were looking for a cheap hostel to stay in on the Venice island, rather than the mainland or a neighbouring island, and decided to stay here. The hostel itself is used by a variety of people, from nuns, to families to students so bear in mind the fact that you could be woken up at 3 by party goers and again at 6 by the nuns. We had a private room for 2 and were given sheets (stained and rather dirty) for our beds. We both had keys to lock our wardrobes and rooms which added an element of security and safety to our stay. We were at the hostel for 3 nights during July when the temperature was around 37 degrees and the room had only one ceiling fan which moved very slowly and due to the high ceilings we did not feel any cool breeze. This lead to 3 sleepless and uncomfortable nights. The bathrooms are shared and the showers are in the main room with the sinks and do not have a lock on, they just have a glass sliding door so you can basically see people showering which can be slightly awkward and unnerving. There is a communal kitchen but we did not use it. The hostel is in quite a good position, 5 minute walk from the Rialto bridge and 20 minute walk to the train station however to get to the station you do have to cross many bridges (it is Venice) which can be difficult with luggage. Expensive hostel for what you get but prices are definitely higher elsewhere on the island.

After a lot of difficulties to reach Venice due to plane problems, we arrived at 2 in the morning. The hostel doesn't have a 24hour reception, so we had to go sleep somewhere else.
Due to the circumstances and the fact that we called in advance to let them know, the manager of the hostel allowed us to pay only for one night instead of the two we originally booked.
Everything was fairly clean and it is probably one of the cheapest place in Venice (A city quiet overpriced).
Calm and secure location, very close to the main attractions of the city.

This is in a college dorm. Wifi is slow in rooms, but rooms and cabinets lock, and there is free luggage storage. Good location in north venice and staff is friendly. Clean shared bathrooms, outlets in rooms. A bit expensive but Venice is expensive!

This is the worst hostel accommodation I have stayed at. The beds were stained terribly and so were the pillows. Honestly, how can you allow people to sleep on these for the price you charge per night? There was no toilet seat on one of the two toilets available in the women's bathroom meaning I had to squat to use the toilet. Even though this is a hostel it should still have the necessary facilities to be comfortable. Facilities overall were old, run down and the hostel in general had an uninviting atmosphere. The rooms with their high ceilings get incredibly hot that I had to douse myself in water constantly throughout the night to stay cool- the one fan in the room was mounted so high it could be barely felt.
We stayed in a private double room which consisted of lots of excess clutter- 2 wardrobes, 3 side tables, 2 desks and 2 book shelves- was this room being used as storage space?!
Given the beautiful old building this hostel is in, this hostel has a lot of potential if many changes are made... until then it's definitely not worth the price.

I was extremely disappointed with this hostel for the accommodations but mostly for their service and management. We were appalled by the management’s service and care to their customers. Our largest issue was this:

We had missed one night’s stay because I was in the hospital with an infection for a day (Intravenous anti-biotics and 12 hours in hospital) and was therefore was unable to make it there. We had phoned as soon as we knew we couldn’t make it, and the staff over the phone said it was not a problem.

Upon check in, the woman behind the desk informed us that it was a 72 hours cancellation policy and without the manager’s permission there was nothing she could do, so we would have to pay now and contact management for a refund. She said she wasn’t sure if the manager was in tomorrow so we could check or send an e-mail. Since it was extenuating circumstances and providing we had all the documentation of the hospital stay, it was unreasonable to pay for both nights. Under the impression she was just a staff member and it was out of her control, we paid for both nights and were going too checked back the following day to see if we could speak to a manager.

The following morning we asked a younger staff member if the manager was in, and she identified the original woman we were dealing with as the manager! We were so thrown that this person, who was so adamant there was nothing she could do without permission, was actually the manager! When speaking to her the second time, she was very dismissive and rude and said to send an e-mail to follow -up. We then sent an e-mail the same day (over 10 days ago now), and have not received any type of response. The management lacks basic customer service skills and compassion.

Furthermore, the property was dirty! There were bugs on our walls, the floors in our room and bathrooms were disgusting. I would not recommend ever staying here! I am very disappointed at this negative impression in such a beautiful city.

Dear guest,
As explained by my colleague at the reception desk, the reservations can be canceled or changed up to three days before the arrival.
I understand the situation and I'm sorry.
It happens very often that people want to cancel or modify their booking out of time and many say they have to change for health problems.
We are the cheapest hostel in Venice and we can not refund all customers who say they were sick the day before their stay.
I'm sorry but the medical certificate has never been shown. And in case of refund, this would be partial.
The lady at the front desk is not the manager and she is always kind. It is easy to talk badly about people when they tell you “no”.
It is true, you phoned and the staff on the phone said that there was no problem maintaining the active booking for the next day.
Nobody has authorized a refund by the phone.
Cancellation policy is more or less the same in all hotels in the world.
About other negative comments, I think it's a little revenge for not being content.
Best regards,
Francesco Amisano
