Visited in April 2016. Overall, my experience was positive - it made me feel very young and I had fun. It felt like those very budget hotels I would go to on school trips.
The position at Plan Maison ensures that ski-in/out is possible even in spring, as the hotel is located at 2600 m. Very good dinners. Renovated wellness area. Nice and relaxed staff.
On more practical notes :): the rooms and equipment are really, really in need of renovation. Things were falling apart without even touching them. Towels old-fashioned, small and really not drying anything. No safety-box in the rooms, basically impossible to lock the room door (our rate of success was 1 of 5). Only 1 key (!!!) for a room for 5 people... No place where to store toiletries in the bathroom, hardly ever working hairdryer, washing in the bathtub with no shower curtain/protective glass, no hooks (well... one and a half) to hang the towels (room for 5 people!). Wi-Fi hardly worked in the reception, not to talk about the rooms.
Dinners were quite good, breakfasts quite poor. House wine terrible. Banana's had to be "reserved" in the evening for next morning's breakfast. Absolutely horrible coffee in the morning. Synthetic juices. Poor choice of bread and fruit.
Wellness area is the only new place in the hotel. It very small, so we had the right to book it for 30 min. maximum. Jacuzzi was wonderful, however. Sauna was fine, but smallish and the door handle from inside was broken. Massage was available on site and many people used this opportunity.
The drawback of the place is that you are completely cut-off the rest of the world in the evenings and there is not even a single other bar/place to be at Plan Maison.
I give it a poor rating, because it is a place in need of serious works, but well... staff is nice and fun can be had there ;)

Location and Food was excellent. The hotel is part of the main gondola at plan mason giving easy access to all the slopes both for the Italian side and over into Zermatt.
the rooms are clean and tidy the breakfast was buffet and good the dinner menu was brilliant salad and antipasti buffet first course followed by two waiter served courses and a final buffet of pudding and cheese. This hotel is great if you are in love with the slopes like our group of seven. If you want nightlife or shopping after skiing you cant get down to town the lift closes and you cant get back to the hotel.
But if you have a early transfer like we did you get a ride down to town on skidoos, which as the sun was rising in fresh powder was amazing.

We skied over from Zermatt & decided to stay in Cervinia for 4 days because it is much better value for money than Zermatt. We decided on this hotel because it was ski in/ski out at 2500m & it offered half board at a reasonable price. Entertainment in this hotel includes a spa, sauna, a masseuse, ping pong table, billiards & a gym. The dinner buffet was simply outstanding but the buffet breakfast could use improving. The staff are very casual but helpful and are very good with children. One evening the staff put on a magic show which was enjoyed by children & adults. The next night they held a quiz night. This place has a very easy, casual, friendly Italian atmosphere.

Had a great holiday here - the only let down were the other English group who were here making a racket and spoiling it for everyone. We had to tell the staff to sort it out as it was ridiculous.
Rooms are tired and some are small but comfortable. Take your own kettle!!
Food is good. Breakfast is good. Bacon/eggs/toast and cold breakfast. Salad starter, carb first course, meat/fish second course, then dessert. If you have kids, they can do you chicken and chips but you have to ask.
Great to have free pool, ping pong and table football.
Childcare is free and you can drop them off at any given moment. Great if they are feeling a bit tires and you fancy another hour. As you are so near the slopes you dont have to trudge very far! Staff are very good with the kids.
They also do the evening entertainment - some of it is a little bizarre. We say forget your stiff upper lip and just have a laugh.
You are right up the slopes so if you get going at 8.45 in the morning, you will have the pistes to yourself for 45 minutes.
Cable car up the mountain is abit of a faff with all your gear. Skidoo back down the mountain was great fun.
Wifi on and off - public areas have it and certain parts of our room had it but you are at 2500m and it gets cloudy often so it was intermittent. Not a problem for us though.

Room tip: Rooms 600 - 614 are a separate wing and quieter.

Although we didn't expect too much (given the price) we did not expect what we were presented with. Rooms are straight out of the '70s and haven't had any maintenance since -they're also freezing. It reminded us of staying in a train station, against payment. We left immediately without staying.
