Loved Cervinia so much after last years visit, just went back again and this time stayed in the Grivola.

Overall, liked it - we knew it from last year, as we ate in the restaurant one night (food very nice btw)

Impressions: small, cosy, rustic, charming, really nice place and pleasant, helpful staff.

The Food (1st floor residents restaurant this is, although I have to assume it's all from the same kitchen?) :
Evening meal: only ate there one night, as we were meeting others for the other nights, elsewhere - but was good food and enjoyable, no complaints at all.

Breakfast: not so good tbh. wasn't terrible, but significantly lacking in a few basic areas. Very easy and simple things to fix and get right, but by the same token, they let it down in a pretty fundamental way.

Specifically - not enough of the hot food available at any given time, not enough hot variety either (either scrambled eggs, or bacon only). There were no heated platters (the ones that keep scrambled eggs etc warm and fresh - pretty much ubiquitous in any of these places for keeping hot food warm) so, unless you got lucky and fought your way to the front to get it as the next lot came out, the food was invariably cold. Also lacking was a toaster - no way to make fresh toast yourself, so it was either bread or the packets of dry toast.
Coffee was good, but on request - there is no machine to help yourself, as you would again expect to find pretty much everywhere as a basic.

Rooms (4th fl) on the small side, but very nicely done out, no complaints at all. Guessing a recent(ish) refurb as the decor looks pretty fresh, contemporary and in decent taste and style.

Speaking of refurb - there's a brand new Lounge Bar downstairs, with a mezzanine and lower floor area - very pleasant place to hang out indeed and a nice touch.

Main restaurant downstairs: really nice, ate there once for lunch and evening and both were very good and reasonably priced

Location: excellent - 3 minutes to the lilft/ski pass kiosk, just around the corner from a ski shop (for service and rental) in the thick of a nice collection of other bars and restaurants (were you of a mind to sample elsewhere). Was a little noisy early n the mornings if you had the window open, but goes with the territory.

As said previously, staff were all very nice and helpful. We were leaving quite late in the day and asked if we could leave our stuff in a secure place and get somewhere to have a shower later. Manager (owner?) said, as he had no arrivals that day for our room, we could keep it on as long as we wanted - no extra charge. Things like that do make a difference.

Would go there again? Yes, definitely. It didn't knock my socks off, but overall was very pleasant and quite 'adequate'

Great breakfast, room and location. Dinner was excellent with great menu and welldressed a classy staff. Skiroom with all what you need. 50 metres to the lift and great skirental next door. We had the suite with 5 comfortable beds in 3 separate rooms. 2 really nice bathrooms. Will go again. No complaints. The coffee served at breakfast was probably one of the best I've had.

A sizeable group of us stayed here in April 2017, as we were skiing the area. The hotel couldn't have done more for us, the staff were wonderful, helpful & friendly, our room was great, although others said theirs was quite small & 'bath-less', the food was just fantastic, probably the best meals we had all week, you'll need to reserve to be sure of actually getting a table as it is so popular. The 3 euro glasses of red wine were quite popular, but not as popular as the carafe of house red at dinner.

My wife had lamb chops a couple of nights, unbelieveable value and a real struggle to get through the 8 cutlets that arrived for 17 euro's (or was it 16).

Room tip: quattro zere quattro was great, looking at the Matterhorn, the Wi-Fi is pretty droppy, slightly annoying, only fly in the ointment really.

The cheese plate was tasteless. The ravioli with ricotta were very blunt. The tomato salad consisted of a plate full of sliced tomatoes without any dressing or herbs. Bresaola was cheap and didn't look too fresh.
