It is a little bit difficult to find the place, because there is a small sign guiding you. Once you arrive the piazza cesare, look for a sign that leads you to downstairs!

I have realized by chance about this location, but I have been very positively surprised when I visited it. Extremely well presented, very well kept, it is really interesting to see the ancient story of the city. Really something I was not expecting!!

This place is truly a hidden gem in the midst of modern day Trento. Before you visit the site, I would advise you to go see the 3D movie. That gives you an excellent idea of what the site originally looked like.
Wherever parts of the original site are missing, modern structures fill in the gaps elegantly, softly guiding you to the next room... Sometimes glass is used on the floor to help you take a peek at the ingeniously constructed sewage system.
Also, the staff is super friendly, they assumed we spoke German (we speak Dutch, but we can manage in German, so no problem there), so they took the trouble to come and find us on the site to inform us that the movie in German was going to be shown.
You will not find a lot of 'visually exciting' artefacts like jewellry, weaponry, glasswork, but really, how often do you get a chance to walk on an actual ancient roman street?

I'm an archaeologist, but I think anyone would thoroughly enjoy a trip below ground to explore the Roman world of Tridentum (ancient Trento). The price is very inexpensive (2.5 adult, 1.5 student), and the museum is well worth the time and money. They have nice displays with good general information, contextualizing you in the ancient city from views of the modern, and providing good information on the various aspects of the ancient city on view. These include a stretch of Roman road which you can walk on, a medieval gate, Roman houses with some beautiful mosaics, and several Roman toilets! It was fascinating to explore and well done.
