The location is superb and the garden is beautiful. We have no complaints about this hotel except for 2 issues. Number one, the room was just too hot as there is no air-conditioning. Temperature was as high as 32 Celsius in the middle of the day and in high 20's. It was almost unbearable to stay in bed and the design of the room did not allow for wind to come in (as there was only one window linked to the balcony). The second issue we had was that clearly it was a hotel with lots of guests who have stayed here many times. Preferential treatment was quite obvious from attitude towards service to hotel activities (new comers would have no idea that there is such a thing called weekly aperitif unless they accidentally bump into it and have to ask the hotel staff about it). We understand that it is important to look after your loyal customers - but isn't it also important to cultivate new customers?

The hotel was fantastic for a few days of R&R. With both an indoor and outdoor pool, and indoor spa, you could have a swim and lounge by the pool regardless of the weather. The restaurant/bar/lobby area was beautifully appointed, and great to sit in and read or have a drink. Breakfast outside on the terrace was a great way to start the day, with many different options to eat. And the hotel is just a short walk from the town centre. Would definitely return!

This Hotel was a very good surprise. Allredy the people on the reception was very helpful and friendly. We bookt a comfort room at the last floor with as nice big balcony looking over the nice garden. The room had a comfortable size unfortunately no air conditioning . We got a fan with out problem and with the open door it was ok to sleep. The hotel with the nice garden and the inside and outside pool is very relaxing and with in 10 minutes walk along the park one is in the center. As we did only book with breakfast we had dinner in the center an where disappointed from the food. Next day we had dinner in the Hotel and had been surprise from the food and the service. From now on we at only dinner there and can only say it was very good. We can recommend.Everything is very clean and the staff friendly and helpful this is the Hotel to feel at home. Going back to Meran we will certenly book there.

Room tip: Room 52 on the 4floor is very comfortable

The Bavaria is a well kept 'old lady' as a hotel; nice old style, airy restaurant, sunny terrace; not the kind of these dusty, bad-smelling hotels. We had a small, but clean room with a wonderful balcony overlooking the garden. Just lying in one of the chairs in the park or swimming in the pool behind the hotel (between this hotel and hotel palma) is very relaxing.
The location is perfect for exploring the city of meran, just 5-10 min walk along the river to the center. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, with the provided meran card all bus rides are included.
The people at the reception were very friendly and helpful, although the information provided without asking was very little (only after settling in our room we realised we had no idea about when and where breakfast or dinner was served, where the pool was etc). We suspect that most of the guests were regulars that already knew all those things, but we didn't and would have appreciated these basics upon arrival. Nevertheless we felt very much at home in this hotel and would recommend it for exploring meran.
The only downside was dinner: we had booked half board, but would not do so next time. The menu served was low-average quality, always sounded very good when written on the menu, but disappointing when served. Breakfast was ok.

Room tip: Balcony is very nice to enlargen the room. The rooms without balvony might also be on backside (not sure, you will have to ask)

The hotel itself is very well managed. The gardens and pool areas are immaculate. The rooms are very clean and bathrooms are in perfect shape. The hotel retains its old charm by using some "old school" furniture and the traditional hotel keys. So it is actually enhancing the charm if one of the cabinet doors doesnt lock completely, which is not an issue at all anyway. The manager is super attentive and you can see its well managed. The only small thing, which is not a fault of the hotel, is the road noise is a bit close, so you will hear a bit of that. Thats why no 5 stars. Food also very good.
